Symbio unveils advanced API stack for seamless number management

Today

Symbio has announced an expansion of its digital experience capabilities in Singapore, featuring a new API stack aimed at enhancing number management for service providers in the region.

The company, which is part of the Aussie Broadband Group, stated that the latest upgrade is designed to give communication service providers in Singapore greater autonomy, flexibility, and security when managing number provisioning. The launch of the API stack is intended to complement Symbio's recently introduced Connect Portal, offering users a choice between a self-service platform and automated tools for handling their operations.

According to Symbio, these enhancements enable streamlined processes for bulk number ordering and reservation, as well as the ability to lease and assign numbers to SIP trunks using a single workflow. The aggregation of these services aims to afford service providers increased control and transparency, while minimising the risk of errors or delays in provisioning.

Dylan Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Symbio's Connect Division, commented on the upgrade, stating, "By combining Tier 1 infrastructure with flexible tools set to scale with the industry, Symbio delivers the first consistent number management experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, allowing local service providers to scale communications with ease. We're proud to be the trusted APAC partner that simplifies connectivity, compliance, and customer experience, with Singapore now seeing a first-of-its-kind solution, we're setting a new benchmark for automation, transparency, and regulatory-ready number provisioning across the region."

The roll-out in Singapore follows the introduction of the Connect Portal in the market, a customer-facing, self-service platform that enabled comprehensive management of communication number assets. The new API stack, referred to as V4, marks the next stage in Symbio's regional strategy, positioning the company as the first in the market to deliver a unified digital experience for number management across Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.

Symbio highlighted that fast and accurate number management is necessary for a smooth digital experience, supporting what it describes as a future-ready Tier 1 network for cloud-native communications at scale. Service providers can now access all their number management operations through a centralised point, increasing operational efficiency across multiple geographies.

The enhancements introduced in Singapore are part of a series of regional milestones Symbio said it has delivered throughout the Asia-Pacific communication space. Previous developments include the SEA Regional Hub, which allows service providers to access domestic networks in multiple countries - such as Singapore and Malaysia - through a single interconnection. The company has also introduced SIP Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), reinforcing security provisions for voice communications in the region.

Symbio has supported additional enterprise communication needs, such as the deployment of Microsoft Teams Operator Connect, which integrates business phones with the public switched telephone network (PSTN), and the launch of Cloud Connected PSTN (CCP) to support Cisco Webex Calling services across the Asia-Pacific region.

The company said its infrastructure was specifically built with evolving service-provider requirements in mind, accommodating requests such as high-volume number portability, SIP connectivity to local Series 6 and Series 3 numbers, and support for emergency services connections.

With this latest upgrade, Symbio seeks to reinforce its position as a partner for service providers seeking to streamline their communications offerings in the Asia-Pacific market, while maintaining compliance and improving customer experience via consolidated number management platforms.
