St Luke's ElderCare adopts AI-driven network for growth, care

Today

Juniper Networks has implemented its AI-Native Networking Platform at St Luke's ElderCare (SLEC) in Singapore, unifying and modernising the network infrastructure across SLEC's care facilities.

SLEC is rolling out Juniper's AI-driven wired, wireless, wide area network (WAN), and firewall solutions, all underpinned by Mist AI, with completion expected by the end of 2025. The deployment spans nursing homes, active ageing centres, and senior care centres, supporting SLEC's continued expansion and the introduction of new services for the elderly.

Singapore faces a demographic shift, with projections indicating that one in four citizens will be aged 65 or older by 2030. SLEC has grown from four to over 30 locations in the last quarter century and anticipates further growth. The organisation required a network infrastructure capable of adapting to this expanding demand while maintaining security, operational efficiency, and quality of experience for elders and staff.

Transitioning from an environment containing 17 disparate systems, SLEC has integrated these into a centralised, cloud-first platform via Juniper's AI-Native Networking Platform. This infrastructure leverages Juniper's Mist Cloud to centralise IT operations, as well as wired and wireless access, WAN, and firewall solutions. These are managed with the intent to provide measurable, highly secure connectivity and comprehensive visibility into user experience across the organisation.

The transformation has yielded operational benefits, including reduced downtime, increased ease of management by SLEC's small IT team, decreased maintenance costs, and enhanced cyber security. The network now provides seamless connectivity between care centres, supporting SLEC's mission to deliver resilient and high-quality care services to the elderly.

The new platform has also enabled SLEC to introduce innovations in its service delivery. These include virtual reality experiences for immersive travel, advanced robotics to support rehabilitation programmes, and a smart transport management system for real-time tracking and route optimisation of the organisation's vehicle fleet. The latter aims to ensure safer and more efficient transport of elders between care centres and their homes.

The focus on security, scalability, and operational simplicity has supported SLEC in both day-to-day operations and future planning. With growing technological adoption in healthcare, the centralised network allows the organisation to safely adopt new digital initiatives while maintaining protection over sensitive healthcare data.

Dr Alan Wong, Chief Operating Officer at St Luke's ElderCare, said, "St Luke's ElderCare's goal is to provide holistic, high-quality care experiences that enhance the well-being of Singapore's elderly community. By modernizing our network with Juniper's AI-Native Networking Platform, we have transformed how we deliver care – ensuring seamless connectivity, strengthening cybersecurity and enabling innovative services for our elderly. This transformation has also empowered our caregivers with the tools they need to provide more personalized and efficient care, allowing us to future-proof our care services."

Perry Sui, Area Vice President, ASEAN, Hong Kong & Taiwan at Juniper Networks, commented, "As we face the challenges of an aging population in Singapore, we are proud to partner with St Luke's ElderCare (SLEC) on its journey of transformation and innovation. Juniper's AI-Native Networking Platform will enable SLEC to cater progressively to the growing demands of elder care through the seamless scaling of its infrastructure. We look forward to continue playing a key role in SLEC's progress they enhance their services, creating a secure, future-ready environment that benefits caregivers, staff and elders alike."

The partnership allows SLEC to continue its approach to innovation in eldercare while maintaining focus on security, operational resilience, and high service standards in line with Singapore's needs as its population ages.
