Ping Identity appoints Sultan as APJ general manager

Ping Identity has appointed Akkasha Sultan as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, putting him in charge of the company's regional business across APJ.
He will oversee regional operations, including business strategy, customer engagement and market expansion, in a region Ping Identity sees as central to its next stage of growth.
The appointment comes as technology suppliers across Asia Pacific and Japan position themselves for rising corporate spending on artificial intelligence, data management and identity controls. Sultan will also help shape Ping Identity's regional approach as organisations move AI projects from testing into broader deployment.
In the role, he will be responsible for revenue growth and enterprise customer relationships across the region. His remit includes working with customers as they manage digital transformation programmes and address identity and governance issues linked to AI systems, including non-human identities and autonomous workloads.
Ping Identity focuses on digital identity management for customers, employees, partners and machine-based entities. Its products are used by organisations seeking to control access, reduce fraud and manage authentication across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments.
Sultan brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology sector, much of it in Asia Pacific. His recent roles included positions at Salesforce and Tableau, where he worked across Australia and New Zealand as well as key ASEAN markets.
At Salesforce, he was Vice President, Agentforce & Data Cloud in ANZ, and also served as Area Vice President for key ASEAN markets. He was also General Manager for Tableau's analytics and AI business.
Earlier in his career, Sultan held senior leadership roles at Microsoft and Oracle, building regional businesses and working with customers through shifts in enterprise technology adoption.
Ping Identity Chief Revenue Officer Adnan Chaudhry described the hire as part of a broader regional push. "We are thrilled to welcome Akkasha to Ping Identity to lead our APJ organisation during this phase of rapid expansion," he said.
Chaudhry said the appointment reflects changing customer demand across the region. "Enterprises across APJ are rapidly moving AI into production, creating new requirements for identity, governance, and trust. Akkasha's experience scaling high-growth businesses across the region will help accelerate our next phase of growth and support customers as they navigate the AI era," he said.
Regional focus
Asia Pacific and Japan have become a focal point for identity and security vendors as companies adopt more cloud software, connect more users and devices, and extend automation into core operations. That shift has increased demand for tools that verify who or what is seeking access to systems and data.
Identity management has also expanded beyond employee logins and customer accounts. Companies now need to manage service accounts, software agents and machine-driven processes, particularly as AI tools are embedded into business workflows.
Ping Identity is expanding its Identity for AI strategy in APJ in response to those changing customer requirements. The approach is intended to help organisations govern AI agents and autonomous workloads alongside human identities.
Sultan also pointed to that shift in his comments on taking the role. "Organisations across APJ are rapidly moving from AI experimentation to deployment, and identity and governance will be critical to realising AI's value safely," said Akkasha Sultan, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APJ, Ping Identity.
He added: "I look forward to working with our customers, partners, and teams to help them navigate that transformation while driving growth across the region."
