Huawei Cloud launches CodeArts Agent across Singapore market

Huawei Cloud has launched CodeArts Agent in Singapore, an artificial intelligence coding tool for software development.

The launch gives Huawei Cloud a commercial foothold in Singapore as companies adopt AI tools that go beyond basic code completion and generation.

CodeArts Agent includes 16 specialised agents designed to support different stages of software development, including requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, issue resolution and code review. The system is aimed at complex, longer-running engineering work rather than single-step coding prompts.

It supports code generation, software development question-and-answer functions and automated unit test generation. Huawei Cloud says the software can interpret codebases of tens of millions of lines, allowing teams to update and extend existing systems with broader project context.

Broader push

The Singapore rollout is part of Huawei Cloud's broader effort to expand its AI software development products across Asia-Pacific. The company plans to introduce more agent products and solutions in Singapore and elsewhere in the region.

At the launch, Tim Tao described how Huawei Cloud views the local market. "Singapore is at the forefront of global AI adoption and is entering a new phase of large-scale deployment, mainstream adoption and value-driven development. Huawei Cloud will continue to deepen its presence in Singapore, advancing our Agentic AI strategy through closer integration of software and hardware, while building a comprehensive technology stack spanning AIDC, Agentic Infrastructure, Model as a Service (MaaS), and agent development platforms. Together, these capabilities will provide a robust 'Silicon-Based Black Soil' foundation for enterprise AI innovation. Following the launch of CodeArts Agent, Huawei Cloud plans to bring more agent products and solutions to Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific market," said Tim Tao, President of Huawei Cloud Solution Sales.

Huawei Cloud positioned the product as part of a shift in software engineering tools, from code-completion assistants to systems that can take on broader development tasks. Developers are increasingly expected to work with AI agents that can plan tasks, understand project context and operate across several stages of delivery, it said.

Engineering workflow

According to Huawei Cloud, the tool draws on more than 30 reusable engineering skills based on the company's internal software practices. These skills are intended to turn established engineering methods into repeatable actions that AI agents can apply during development work.

The product is available through several access routes, including AI-native integrated development environments, plugins, and command-line or text-based interfaces. Organisations can also apply management and security controls when integrating the software into existing workflows.

That may matter for larger businesses with legacy software estates, where any AI development tool must fit internal processes as well as write code. Huawei Cloud says the tool's code understanding is designed to support incremental development, not just greenfield projects.

Local programme

Alongside the commercial launch, Huawei Cloud introduced a Singapore CodeArts Agent Early Bird Program for eligible enterprise users. The offer includes three months of complimentary access to the Professional Edition, one-to-one coaching from local experts and related enablement services.

The programme is aimed at lowering the barrier for companies testing whether agent-based development tools can fit their engineering teams. It also gives Huawei Cloud a route into enterprise accounts that may want support in setting development processes around AI tools, not just access to software licences.

Huawei, founded in 1987, says it has 213,000 employees and operates in more than 170 countries and regions. The group serves more than 3 billion people worldwide across its information and communications technology infrastructure and device businesses.

According to company materials, Kevin Zhang, Director of Marketing and Solution Sales, Huawei Cloud Singapore, led the launch of CodeArts Agent in Singapore. The new offering is part of Huawei Cloud's broader push to expand AI-driven software development tools for local developers and enterprises.
