Oracle expands AI in supply chain with new SCM agents

Yesterday

Oracle has launched new AI agents embedded within Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) to enhance the efficiency of supply chain workflows.

The newly released AI agents cover a variety of supply chain areas, including procurement, manufacturing, and maintenance. These tools aim to help organisations transform their supply chain operations by automating comprehensive business processes. Specifically, they provide supply chain professionals with personalised insights, content, and task-specific recommendations.

Chris Leone, Executive Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle, commented, "Supply chain professionals often spend several hours every week on administrative tasks, such as data analysis, policy reviews, and order processing, which takes a significant toll on productivity and resources. Our new AI agents for supply chain management help ease the administrative burden by streamlining workflows and automating routine tasks to enable greater accuracy and efficiency, smarter decision-making, and ultimately, a more agile and responsive supply chain."

The AI agents aim to bolster supply chain management across various operational facets. In the procurement sector, the Procurement Policy Advisor helps increase the speed and accuracy of purchase requisitions. The Manufacturer Onboarding Advisor streamlines the addition of manufacturers by ensuring they meet risk and onboarding requirements.

In manufacturing, the Operational Procedure Advisor ensures operations align with safety standards and procedural guidelines, while the Quality Inspection Advisor simplifies the inspection processes for quality engineers. Additionally, the Material Handling Advisor provides guidance on correct procedures and regulatory requirements for product handling upon delivery.

For order fulfillment, the Claims Policy Advisor offers suggestions to claims analysts for more efficient and consistent decisions. Meanwhile, the Shipping Placard Handling Advisor ensures compliance with hazardous materials regulations during shipment processes, and the Goods Delivery Advisor minimises delivery disruptions.

The launch also included AI-driven logistics and order management enhancements. These updates aim to improve customer satisfaction by providing better shipment visibility, reducing trade costs, and enhancing transportation decisions to ultimately lower shipment-related emissions.

Srini Rajagopal, Vice President of Logistics Product Strategy at Oracle, stated, "To successfully navigate an increasingly complex global landscape, supply chain leaders need agile and efficient processes that can help them diversify and strengthen supplier networks, adapt transportation and logistics strategies, and stay ahead of regulatory changes. The new AI-powered capabilities in Oracle Cloud SCM help our customers address these challenges by providing the data-driven insights needed to seamlessly manage transportation, global trade, and distribution processes, address regulatory compliance, and drive resiliency and sustainability across the supply chain."

Oracle Transportation Management has been upgraded with AI-powered features that predict optimal arrival times and more sustainable shipping routes, alongside a transit time prediction tool to minimise shipment delays.

Oracle Global Trade Management now includes tools to maximise trade incentive programmes and aid in the processing of duty drawbacks to alleviate tariff impacts. Moreover, Oracle Order Management's new capabilities include AI-generated summaries for returns and promotions as well as improvements in item availability checks and order fulfillment views.

Oracle Cloud SCM, a part of the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, continues to offer a connected supply chain solution that adapts responsively to changing supply and demand circumstances. Enhanced AI integration supports data analysis, content generation, and process automation to maintain business operations and reinforce supply network resilience.
