EDC partners with Newgen Software for content management
Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has partnered with Newgen Software to centralise its content management for over 1,000 employees. The initiative is a significant move in EDC's knowledge management journey, focusing on efficient and secure document handling across various departments.
Leveraging Newgen's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform, the partnership aims to streamline data storage and retrieval operations for EDC's extensive employee base. The geothermal energy producer has migrated its data and metadata from Google Drive to the Newgen platform. Additionally, the integration of Single Sign-On (SSO) with Azure Active Directory has simplified user authentication processes.
Allan Barcena, Assistant Vice President and Head of Corporate Support Functions at EDC, expressed the necessity of such a partnership. "With all our seven new geothermal projects and drilling operations program in full swing, we needed a partner that could help save us time and effort from tedious work processes by putting an efficient enterprise-wide knowledge repository in place," he said.
Pramod Kumar, Head of Business for the Asia Pacific region at Newgen Software, also commented on the collaboration. "We are delighted that EDC chose Newgen to modernise its content management needs. Our ECM platform is designed to provide a seamless and efficient document management experience, empowering EDC to focus on its strategic initiatives in renewable energy," he stated.
EDC, a major vertically integrated geothermal producer and the premier renewable energy company in the Philippines continues to expand its operations. The company is involved in geothermal, hydroelectric, wind, and solar energy projects. The choice to partner with Newgen Software aligns with EDC's commitment to sustainability and innovation within the renewable energy sector.
The implementation of the ECM platform aims to provide EDC employees with the capability to access information and documents from any location. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance organisational efficiency and security in document management.
EDC's commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development is well-recognised. The company accounts for over 60% of the Philippines' total installed geothermal capacity, playing a significant role in positioning the country as the third-largest geothermal producer worldwide.
