During the Cisco Live EMEA event in Amsterdam on February 6, 2024, technology leader, Cisco, announced a raft of new solutions designed to enhance customer performance and user experience. These innovations focus on the Cisco Observability Platform and were described by Ronak Desai, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco AppDynamics and Full-Stack Observability, as a way to "empower our customers with better visibility, insights and actions across domains than ever before."
The latest innovations include an expanded focus on Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM). As applications increasingly become the operational front door for companies, delivering an exceptional application experience has become a paramount concern for IT teams. With this expansion, Cisco offers Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Session Replay modules in the DEM application designed to provide in-depth insights into browser and mobile application performance, as well as efficient resolution of any session-level issues.
Continuing with a clear focus on customer experience, Cisco has introduced observability for Kubernetes workloads onto the Observability Platform. Utilising extended Berkeley Packet Filters (eBPF), a lightweight Linux kernel utility, operators are afforded granular visibility into network activity, application dependencies and any misconfigurations that may be detrimental to network performance.
Additionally, Cisco announced the launch of a Unified Observability Experience, further amplifying visibility and control. Combining new solutions on the Cisco AppDynamics and Observability Platform, operators will be able to use a single account with shared context. Included in these new capabilities are Log Analytics, which allows for context-focused searches. There is also provision for Core Web Vitals, giving front-end application owners key signals to prevent web pages from being de-ranked for poor user experience.
An added layer of innovation is the inclusion of a natural language interface, powered by Generative AI, allowing operators to use conversational dialogues rather than a structured query language. Cisco has also introduced Cisco AIOps for Full-Stack Observability, providing actionable insights capable of significantly improving IT operations.
Proving its commitment to data security, Cisco announced the addition of Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) Observability to its Business Risk Observability solution. This development provides real-time data discovery, classification, policy definition and compliance visibility for sensitive data. Innovation is also being shared with global partners across multiple areas including AIOps, MLOps and networking, with new partner modules being made available on the Cisco Observability Platform.
These new additions to the Cisco Observability Platform indicate ongoing commitment to improved customer experience, application performance and data security. The innovations will undoubtedly empower operations teams and provide increased visibility into all sectors of a business, resulting in better performance and ultimately, end-user satisfaction.
