Singapore to host STEM Racing World Finals alongside F1 in 2025
Singapore will host the inaugural Aramco STEM Racing World Finals in 2025, coinciding with the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.
The Aramco STEM Racing World Finals 2025 are scheduled to take place from 27 September to 2 October. This marks the 20th edition of the international science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition and the first under its new name after transitioning from F1 in Schools.
Following previous events in cities such as Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Singapore will host the World Finals for the fifth time, reflecting its established reputation as a centre for technology and major events.
The competition will bring together students worldwide who have won their national qualifying events. They will represent their countries in Singapore, competing as teams of three to six and emulating all aspects of a professional Formula 1 team.
Participants will be responsible for designing, manufacturing and testing miniature F1 race cars, which will compete on a 20-metre STEM Racing track. Teams are also expected to develop their own identities, mirroring the real-world branding and management strategies of Formula 1 teams.
This upcoming event introduces the Aramco STEM Racing World Champions trophy, which will be awarded for the first time to the highest-performing team. With the support of Formula 1 teams and industry suppliers, more than 20 additional awards will acknowledge achievements in various judged categories.
According to the organisers, the programme's involvement has led many previous participants to careers within Formula 1 and related sectors, including aerodynamics, engineering, project management, design, finance, and research. The initiative continues to serve as a pipeline for talent entering the motorsport and engineering industries.
The event's focus is on harnessing the creativity and technical abilities of young minds globally, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM, and inspiring the next generation of motorsport industry leaders.
Ellen Jones, Formula 1 Head of ESG, said, "Over the past 20 years, STEM Racing has inspired students around the world to pursue careers in engineering. We are proud to support a program that celebrates values that are central to Formula 1 — teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving. As F1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, we look to the future, and through competitions like STEM Racing, we hope to find the next generation of talent to push the sport forward. Good luck to all the teams."
Khalid A. Al Zamil, Aramco Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, said, "Last year's Aramco F1 in Schools World Finals, which was held in the Kingdom, showcased how much talent exists in the next generation of engineers. With the STEM Racing team, we aim to equip young pioneers to engineer a brighter future. There is no better way to celebrate our continued partnership than with an exciting world-class finale at the end of September 2025."
Andrew Denford, STEM Racing Founder and Chairman, said, "The Aramco STEM Racing World Finals 2025 marks an exciting new chapter for our global STEM program. Once again, we will bring together the brightest young STEM talents from around the world to compete at the highest level. The World Champions title is more than just an accolade — it's a gateway to future careers in motorsport, engineering, and beyond."
"Singapore has always given us a warm welcome, and our students have enjoyed the cultural heritage, the amazing cityscape, and the inspiring setting. The location leaves a lasting impression and gives them all an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to be there in September."
The Aramco STEM Racing World Finals 2025 is supported by Aramco as title sponsor, with additional partners including Denford, Autodesk, Ansys, Singapore Grand Prix, Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, UCL Mechanical Engineering, Singapore Tourism Board and FIA Women in Motorsport.
