SailPoint unveils AI-powered app onboarding to streamline integration

Mon, 17th Jun 2024

SailPoint has launched a new AI-powered application onboarding capability designed to significantly reduce the time and effort required for businesses to integrate and secure their critical business applications. The development aims to address the common challenges faced by organisations in integrating numerous applications into their identity security solutions.

The onboarded capability, which will be implemented within SailPoint Identity Security Cloud, is expected to streamline and automate the application integration process, thereby providing faster time to value, improved security of business applications, and an enhanced user experience. According to SailPoint, the new feature will help businesses fully maximise the potential of their identity security solutions.

One of the critical influences on this move is the typical volume of applications organisations manage, which often ranges from hundreds to thousands. The traditional onboarding process for these applications is both time-consuming and costly, especially for companies lacking the necessary personnel or technical know-how to manage the process internally. Consequently, businesses have historically prioritised only their most essential applications while leaving numerous others unmanaged and vulnerable.

The new application onboarding capability from SailPoint aims to revolutionise this process by leveraging AI to automate the bulk of the onboarding tasks. This includes automatically discovering applications, thereby enhancing visibility across the digital environment. Once apps are identified, administrators have the option to select from numerous connection methods or receive AI-driven recommendations based on application usage insights and best practices to deploy effective connectors and integrations.

Additionally, the AI-powered application onboarding will streamline the process of mapping identities to accounts, a typically laborious task. Automating this step is expected to reduce the mapping time by up to 70% on average, thus allowing IT and security teams to redirect their efforts towards more critical business needs.

Grady Summers, EVP of Products at SailPoint, highlighted the benefits of this new solution. "Manual application onboarding can be an arduous process for today’s businesses, sometimes taking weeks or even months to complete. Our new capability is expected to allow customers to shorten that process to hours or days, enabling their business-critical applications to be brought safely under their identity security umbrella with a minimal investment of time or energy," Summers stated. "Automating this process will make it easier for customers to implement effective identity security capabilities across their entire digital ecosystem."

The new onboarding capability will be available to existing customers of SailPoint Identity Security Cloud Business and Business Plus at no additional cost, increasing the platform's overall value proposition. By alleviating the time and cost pressures associated with application onboarding, SailPoint is positioning its solution to more effectively meet the needs of modern enterprises.

Further updates have also been announced for SailPoint's Data Access Security and Non-Employee Risk Management offerings within the SailPoint Identity Security Cloud. These enhancements are designed to offer customers greater visibility and security across a wide range of identity types and their access to critical data, enabling robust, enterprise-class identity security programs.

SailPoint's new application onboarding capabilities will be available to Identity Security Cloud Business and Business Plus customers on 30 June.
