Rapid7 completes IRAP assessment, aiding Aussie agencies

Wed, 3rd Jul 2024

Rapid7 has announced the successful completion of its Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment to the PROTECTED level.

This milestone enables Australian Government agencies to access several key solutions within the Rapid7 Insight Platform for enhanced security measures.

The specific solutions assessed include InsightIDR, InsightVM, InsightAppSec, and InsightConnect. These tools provide a range of security functionalities, including vulnerability management, application security, orchestration and automation, and detection and response capabilities.

Rob Dooley, Vice President of APJ at Rapid7, remarked on the company's dedication to supporting government bodies in Australia through this achievement.

"The successful completion of the IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level demonstrates Rapid7's commitment to supporting Australian government customers and providing access to a comprehensive security platform necessary to tackle the ever-evolving challenges of today's cybersecurity landscape," he said.

Dooley further emphasized the global support Rapid7 offers to governmental agencies. "Rapid7 helps hundreds of government agencies worldwide effectively protect against security threats and quickly respond to breaches, which is why we are thrilled to support the ongoing protection of the Australian public sector," he added.

The IRAP assessment allows government agencies to better manage the complexities associated with hybrid cloud environments, particularly as cyber attackers become more sophisticated. Dooley noted the importance of this timing: "As more government agencies migrate to hybrid cloud environments, we can help them better manage the growing complexity of identifying and securing the attack surface. The timing of our assessment could not be better, especially as attackers are getting more sophisticated, better armed, and faster."

The Rapid7 Insight Platform delivers data collection, visibility, analytics, and automation, fostering a unified perspective among security, IT operations, and development teams. This integration provides agencies with one-click access to tools like vulnerability management, application testing, incident detection and response, and orchestration and automation. These capabilities assist in prioritising security efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Dooley also looked ahead to the future partnerships facilitated by the IRAP assessment. "We're looking forward to the potential the IRAP assessment provides as we continue to partner with the Australian Government to ensure they have a broadened view across the attack surface and take swift action on threats from endpoint to the cloud," he said.
