Otterly.AI exits stealth, helping brands monitor AI search

Yesterday

Otterly.AI, a startup offering an AI search monitoring solution, has exited stealth mode with over 1,000 users, aiming to help brands adapt to new AI search engines.

The fully bootstrapped company, founded by industry veterans Klaus-M Schremser, Josef Trauner, and Thomas Peham, seeks to address the challenges posed by generative AI search engines like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity.AI. By doing so, it aims to transform the way brands monitor their online presence in the face of declining organic search traffic predicted to drop 50% by 2028.

Otterly.AI provides brands with insights to optimize their visibility, noting how often a website is mentioned and the sentiment associated with those mentions. Positioned as a solution for marketing teams and brands, it tracks metrics across AI search platforms, offering weekly insights on evolving trends.

The company has attracted users such as Datadome, Skale, Downtown Ecommerce, and Videoloft since it began operations in October. These clients include agencies, brands, and tech companies that seek to leverage Otterly.AI's platform to improve their engagement with AI-driven search tools.

Otterly.AI's platform assists with AI search performance by answering critical questions about AI search visibility: "Google AI Overviews: Is an AI Overview triggered for my topics? Is my website, or my competitors', visible?" and "ChatGPT and Perplexity.AI: Are links to my website included, and how prominent are they? What is the sentiment and positioning of mentioned brands?"

The emergence of platforms such as ChatGPT in the top 10 global websites and Perplexity.AI's significant monthly user growth highlight the importance for brands to adjust to the changes in search technology. This adjustment is necessitated by predictions that consumer behaviour will significantly shift with the rise of these AI-powered search engines.

Klaus-M Schremser, one of the founders, previously founded and exited companies like Gentics and Usersnap, and brings 25 years of experience in marketing and product development. Josef Trauner played a major role in scaling Usersnap before its acquisition in 2023. Thomas Peham, also a co-founder, previously led marketing at Storyblok, enhancing its position in the CMS industry.

"The shift to generative AI search is one of the most seismic transformations in marketing today. We started Otterly.AI with a vision to empower brands to adapt to the fundamental changes happening in the search ecosystem, equipping them with the tools to stay visible, competitive, and informed in this complex new landscape," said Thomas Peham, co-founder of Otterly.AI.

He added, "Reaching 1,000 users in such a short time is a testament to how critical it is for companies to monitor their performance in the AI-driven search landscape. Brands are waking up to the reality that their traditional organic traffic strategies won't suffice, and Otterly.AI is here to bridge that gap with actionable insights and an innovative platform. This is just the beginning, and we are excited to expand our mission of helping businesses thrive in this dynamic space."
