Ngee Ann Polytechnic partners with Denodo on data programme

Yesterday

Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore has partnered with Denodo as part of the Denodo Academic Program to enhance its data science and analytics curriculum.

The Denodo Academic Program offers students education in data management, focusing on data integration and architecture. It combines virtual training modules, live workshops, and practical demonstrations using the Denodo Platform. This partnership provides students with access to Denodo's technology, including Denodo Express, an entry-level version of their platform.

Denodo is integrated into the Diploma in Data Science offered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic to support the institution in creating a curriculum that meets modern industry requirements.

Dr. Joel Yang, Director of the School of InfoComm Technology at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, said, "At Ngee Ann Polytechnic, we place industry at the heart of our curriculum to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for a rapidly evolving, data-driven world. Through our collaboration with Denodo, students gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools and practices, such as data virtualisation and data integration. This prepares them to drive innovation and contribute meaningfully to the future of data management."

Under the partnership, Ngee Ann Polytechnic joins other educational institutions globally that collaborate with Denodo, including Roma Tre and the University of Padua in Italy, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College in India, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison's E-Business Consortium in the United States. These collaborations offer a blend of practical and theoretical knowledge, emphasising data virtualisation in the cloud and advanced analytics involving machine learning.

Singapore's role as a leader in technological innovation underscores the importance of equipping students with current industry practices in data management. The Denodo platform complements classical approaches like ELT and ETL, presenting students with various tools for contemporary data challenges.

Shanmuga Sunthar Muniandy, Director of Data Architecture & Chief Evangelist, APAC at Denodo, said, "We're in an exciting time for data management. As more companies deploy emerging technologies like generative AI or agentic AI, Singapore will see an increasing demand for modern, agile data management solutions that can process the vast amounts of data needed to power these technologies—and the demand for talent who can apply those solutions will also rise."

"Denodo's partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic is instrumental for imparting comprehensive knowledge about data management and providing students with the hands-on experience they need to excel in today's data-driven world."

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is addressing the STEM skills gap in the Asia-Pacific region by offering dedicated schools for disciplines such as engineering, health sciences, information and communication technology, and life sciences. This new partnership with Denodo focuses on advanced concepts like logical data management and data virtualisation, which are essential for providing data-ready solutions for generative AI applications.

The Denodo University Challenge is also part of the program. It invites students worldwide to solve data-related problems using Denodo's data virtualisation technology. The upcoming challenge will focus on AI and is currently open for pre-registration.
