NEXCOM unveils FTA 5190 AI-powered server with Xeon 6 SoC

Today

NEXCOM has introduced the FTA 5190 AI-Powered Edge Server, a new addition to its line-up that features the Intel Xeon 6 SoC.

The introduction of the FTA 5190 comes as a response to increasing demands for robust data management solutions, facilitating effective collaboration, efficient data processing, and seamless integration with existing systems. It is designed to deliver performance in data-heavy and application-centred environments.

The FTA 5190's compact 1U design allows it to be easily integrated into existing infrastructure, potentially replacing older systems while also reducing expenses related to space, energy consumption, and maintenance. It utilises advanced SoC, networking, and storage capabilities, all while maintaining a focus on performance efficiency measured against power consumption.

NEXCOM's collaboration with Intel positions them to offer evaluation platforms quickly, with the Intel Xeon 6 SoC being a pivotal element in the FTA 5190's capabilities. This latest architecture is suited for enterprise, networking, 5G, cloud, AI, and HPC applications, ensuring the server is well-equipped to meet current and future technological demands.

The FTA 5190 boasts up to 32 cores, with Intel Hyper-Threading technology doubling this to 64 processing threads. This scalable architecture supports both high-load processing and adaptable, lighter tasks. The flexibility allows applications to manage multiple operations simultaneously.

The server's CPU includes high-bandwidth memory and 200G throughput capacity, facilitating advanced connectivity. It supports eight 25GbE LAN ports, which aid in cost reduction through embedded networking. Additionally, the SoC's AI acceleration engine and Intel QuickAssist Technology enhance deep learning, cryptography, and data compression tasks.

Intel QuickAssist Technology in particular enhances applications requiring complex computational tasks such as cryptography, data security, and media processing, thus optimising efficiency.

Despite its compact form, the FTA 5190 is powerful; it includes PCIe Gen4/5 NVMe storage for effective data handling and extensive Ethernet capabilities. Its security measures are bolstered by trusted platform module (TPM 2.0) support, ensuring data integrity while providing tools for developers through its NCS SDK-ready status.

The server's expansion features include multiple M.2 NVMe/PCIe4/5 interfaces along with a significant amount of DDR5 memory, supporting up to 128GB. These features are particularly advantageous for tasks like network security and media analytics.

The slim 1U form factor aids in its deployment in space-constrained environments such as telecom cabinets. This form factor also facilitates the replacement of outdated equipment more easily, providing an upgrade in performance and energy efficiency.
