Medius appoints Emma Brown as new CFO amid significant growth

Thu, 26th Oct 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Medius, a frontrunner in AP Automation and Spend Management solutions, has unveiled the appointment of Emma Brown as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This strategic move coincides with a time of significant growth for the company, following its recent acquisitions of expense management software company Expensya in July 2023 and OnPay Solutions, a Jacksonville-based invoice payments provider, in March 2022.

Brown brings to the position over 14 years of experience in scaling high growth global technology and people-centric businesses. Prior to her appointment at Medius, Brown served as the Group Chief Financial and Operating Officer at consumer intelligence accelerator platform, Talkwalker. Her career history includes prominent roles within the tech sector, including MedicalDirector, Smartways Logistics, and Altium, both in the UK and Australia.

As the CFO of Medius, Brown will be based in London and will shoulder the responsibility of guiding Medius towards its ambitious goal of doubling its revenue by 2025. She will also ensure the long-term financial wellbeing of the company as it strives to eradicate fraud and inefficiencies through autonomous, AI-driven AP and spend management. A committed champion of digital transformation, Brown will lead product development, focusing on the needs of core Medius customers, as CFOs increasingly seek enhanced productivity and greater financial control.

Brown holds an MBA from the University of Sydney, where she was the recipient of a scholarship from the UN Women National Committee Australia. The scholarship was awarded in acknowledgement of her dedication to positive and inclusive social change, particularly her support of parental leave and diversity policies.

Speaking on her new position, Emma Brown states, "CFOs today are facing a number of challenges, including attracting and retaining top talent, managing cashflow and risk in a volatile economy, and staying ahead of the curve on emerging technologies, including AI. I see firsthand how Medius can solve these issues and my belief in the product is an important reason for joining the business. With the company's history of sustainable growth, I'm eager to deliver on its exciting ambitions as a strategic and entrepreneurial CFO."

Jim Lucier, CEO at Medius, warmly welcomed Brown saying, "We're proud to welcome Emma at a crucial juncture for the business. As we continue our efforts to double our revenue over the next two years, Emma's expertise as a transformational financial leader will help make this a reality."
