Jason Leonidas named VP at New Relic

Thu, 5th Oct 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Jason Leonidas, bringing more than a quarter-century of technical industry experience, has been appointed Vice President for the South Pacific region of New Relic, the all-in-one observability platform for every engineer. Leonidas' expanded remit is set to propel the regions of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) towards higher observability adoption and customer experience excellence.

New Relic, Inc. announced that Leonidas, who has held posts at Oracle and Actian Corporation before joining New Relic six years ago, will be responsible for driving market growth, customer success and strategic direction in the newly created position. Leonidas served as Regional Sales Director, ANZ, and more recently as, Regional Vice President, ANZ, during his tenure with New Relic.

Reporting to Kris Day, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at New Relic, Leonidas will continue in his pursuit to mould the South Pacific region into a significant strategic pillar for the New Relic business in Asia-Pacific. Speaking about the expansion, Day says, "The formation of the South Pacific Region represents a significant strategic pillar for the New Relic business in Asia-Pacific moving forward, and brings together the maturity of our ANZ business and the high growth potential of our vibrant ASEAN market. We are thrilled that Jason will lead this team into its next phase of growth."

Leonidas, a developer at heart, moved from development into pre-sales engineering, solutions architect roles, and sales. He observed a strong growth trend in the region, mirroring findings from the 2023 New Relic Observability Forecast. The forecast highlighted that observability adoption is high and increasing across the ANZ and ASEAN markets. It showed that 74% of the more technically-focused executives and 73% of less technically-focused executives in ANZ, along with 82% of more technically focused and 74% of less technically focused C-level executives in ASEAN, are advocates for observability.

Responding to these findings, Leonidas says, "The business benefits of observability are clear. With IT spending projected to grow by 4.4% in 2023, now is the time for businesses across the region to arm their engineers with observability so they can build exceptional products and experiences for their customers and end users. I'm thrilled to lead the newly formed South Pacific region for New Relic, and look forward to helping customers here realise the many benefits that the New Relic all-in-one observability platform offers."

His promotion follows the announcement of recent product innovations for New Relic, including the world's first Generative AI assistant for observability, AI Recommended Alerts, Interactive Application Security Testing, and New Relic Grok.

New Relic is recognised as a leader in observability, offering engineers a data-driven approach to planning, building, deploying and running great software. Emboldening engineers with data rather than opinions, the company has played a significant role in aiding corporate behemoths like adidas Runtastic, American Red Cross, Australia Post, Banco Inter, Chegg, GoTo Group, Ryanair, Sainsbury's, Signify Health, TopGolf, and World Fuel Services improve uptime, reliability and operational efficiency.
