iXsystems appoints Patrick Keane as Vice President of Engineering

Today, open source storage leader iXsystems, the company behind TrueNAS Open Storage, formally announced the appointment of industry veteran Patrick Keane as its new Vice President of Engineering. Keane's extensive experience in storage technologies is expected to propel the advancement of iXsystems' TrueNAS technology as the company broadens its market footprint.

Mr. Keane brings to the role more than two decades of diverse technical leadership know-how. He has assisted software teams in producing market-leading products across numerous sectors, including direct marketing, telecommunications, broadcast media, medicine, data visualisation, and high-performance computing. Notably, he boasts a proven history of delivering enterprise storage solutions, having previously led engineering teams at NetApp and most recently at Panasas, Inc., where he served as Vice President of Engineering.

Senior Vice President of Engineering at iXsystems, Kris Moore, commented on the new hire, saying, "Patrick's addition to our Engineering leadership team brings valuable enterprise knowledge and experience to our company at an exciting time in the history of TrueNAS and iXsystems." Moore added that as more enterprise customers adapt to TrueNAS, Mr. Keane will play a vital role in furthering its technology, enabling it to be applied in an expanding range of use cases in enterprise situations.

In his new position at iXsystems, Mr. Keane will spearhead engineering efforts for the TrueNAS family of storage products. His critical role will focus on driving innovation in the company's storage ranges and ensuring that future TrueNAS software and hardware products maintain their best-in-class industry status.

Speaking about his appointment, Keane says, "I have been a TrueNAS enthusiast for years, both in my personal and professional life." He lauded TrueNAS as a standout product in the storage industry, attributing its reputation to its feature-rich package, user-friendly design, and robust reliability for both enterprise clients and home users. Keane holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and an MBA from Wilkes University, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
