Thu, 5th Sep 2024

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Zurich Asuransi Indonesia have announced a new partnership to deliver insurance solutions through Indosat's mobile app. This strategic agreement, formalised through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Indosat MX Center in Jakarta, seeks to integrate telecommunications and insurance services to increase financial inclusion and empower communities in Indonesia.

Ritesh Kumar Singh, Director and Chief Commercial Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, remarked upon the synergy created by this partnership. "This strategic partnership combines Indosat's extensive network and complete digital ecosystem with Zurich's expertise in insurance protection. This combination will not only strengthen our efforts to deliver a quality experience but also extends protection for Indonesians, particularly in rural and underserved areas," he said.

Through this collaboration, the companies plan to utilise Indosat's ecosystem of over 100 million users to deliver insurance products to a wide range of customer segments. The insurance offerings will initially include travel insurance for flight cancellations, lost luggage, and emergency medical needs. Future products in the pipeline involve hospital cash plans and protection for cracked car screens, which aim to cover broader protection needs at affordable premiums.

Edhi Tjahja Negara, President Director of PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk, expressed optimism about the new partnership. "Partnering with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison marks a significant milestone in Zurich's mission to build a more resilient and financially strong Indonesia. Our digital-first solutions, designed under the Zurich Edge strategy, will ensure comprehensive protection is just a click away, fostering greater financial inclusion," he explained.

The protection plans will be accessible through Indosat's myIM3 and bima+ platforms. They feature comprehensive solutions for a variety of activities. For example, postpaid customers will have access to a Free Postpaid Bill Protection plan upon purchasing or renewing a plan. This plan provides coverage against serious health risks along with additional benefits.

Zurich Asuransi Indonesia has been serving the Indonesian market for over 33 years. It offers a range of general, life, and Sharia insurance products characterised by affordable premiums, straightforward registration, and expedited claims handling. According to its representatives, the company's solutions are crafted to deliver a superior customer experience.

The partnership between Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Zurich Asuransi Indonesia represents a strategic effort to blend telecommunications with insurance services, leveraging digital platforms to enhance access to financial products. By combining their strengths, both companies aim to reach a broader audience and address the diverse insurance needs of Indonesia's population, potentially setting a new standard for integrated digital financial services in the region.
