IFS launches IFS Cloud 24R1 to enhance AI-driven operations

Tue, 4th Jun 2024

IFS, a provider of enterprise cloud and industrial AI software, has announced the general availability of its latest IFS Cloud release. Dubbed IFS Cloud 24R1, this update aims to improve operational effectiveness and profitability for asset and service-focused companies. The release extends the capabilities of IFS Cloud, featuring enhancements designed to better leverage assets, improve service, and drive sustainability.

Among the standout features is the IFS.ai Copilot, an AI-assisted tool that enhances decision-making by facilitating an improved understanding of data across a company's supply chain and operations. Christian Pedersen, Chief Product Officer at IFS, commented, "With this latest release of IFS Cloud, customers will benefit from a new level of meaningful AI capabilities and innovation that is truly relevant to their industry and impactful to their business."

IFS Cloud 24R1 is structured around three strategic themes: improving asset potential, driving profitability, and using sustainability as a competitive edge. The release is complemented by new industrial AI capabilities alongside functionalities specific to various industries, such as Aerospace and Defence.

The AI-powered IFS.ai Copilot and Analytics as a Service allow users to improve productivity and gain valuable insights while reducing capital and operational costs. The Copilot offers AI-supported guidance and timely knowledge tailored to user needs, thereby accelerating decision-making processes and enhancing overall user experience.

Enhanced transport loading functionality aims to optimise shipment processes by improving load capacity utilisation and speeding up goods loading times. Additionally, the task bundling for service feature increases technician efficiency, reduces travel costs and emissions, and enhances service margins.

Sustainability remains a core focus of the newest IFS Cloud release. Enhancements include the Emissions Tracker, which aids companies in accurately tracking sustainability progress through emissions data collection and the input of utility kilowatt consumption data. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Lobbies are now underpinned by Power BI, making real-time insights more accessible.

The update further supports circular manufacturing processes, enabling companies to reduce production costs and environmental impact through remanufacturing planning. This approach facilitates the introduction of new revenue streams while lowering the carbon footprint. The latest release also includes packing material management, enhancing sustainable operations by treating unit accessories as inventory and increasing the use of reusable packaging.

Another significant feature, Advanced SLA Management, enhances service level agreement adherence and compliance, which in turn boosts margins. The B2B portal enables contractors to document multi-site work, streamlining communication between contract and asset owners and providing greater control and visibility.

Warren Zietsman, Managing Director of IFS Australia and New Zealand, emphasied the relevance of these new capabilities, particularly in light of evolving regulations in Europe and the US that necessitate firms to manage their sustainability commitments more effectively. "We're offering new AI-powered capabilities that help companies improve their operations and report progress," he said.

One of the more industry-specific tools introduced is for the Aerospace and Defence sector. New Aircraft Release to Service functionality automatically detects and flags missing mandatory components and overdue maintenance tasks, thus aiding compliance and risk reduction. Additionally, the Aircraft Airworthiness Status Insights provides visibility and control over fleet status and aircraft maintenance, enhancing efficiency and productivity for aviation operators.

IFS Cloud 24R1 is designed to harmonise human ingenuity with technological advances, allowing businesses to achieve optimal asset operation, minimise downtime, and streamline operations. Pedersen concluded, "As we look ahead, it's clear that IFS.ai will continue to be a catalyst for change, driving businesses forward with purpose and passion within the industrial setting."
