IDeaS sees rapid hotel uptake for broader software

IDeaS said hotels are rapidly adopting its commercial strategy software, with demand spreading beyond traditional revenue management tools.
More than 1,600 hotels adopted its Rate Data Advantage product within the first 100 days after launch. Nearly 40 per cent of independent hotels, small groups and regional chains in its client base now use Optix.
The figures point to a wider shift in the hotel sector as operators try to link pricing, marketing, sales and operations more closely. Hotel groups are also dealing with volatile markets, staffing pressure and changing travel demand, increasing interest in software that offers a broader view of performance.
IDeaS, which is owned by SAS, said smaller hotel operators have been among the fastest adopters. Independent hotels, small groups and regional chains are using the software to build more coordinated commercial plans without adding organisational complexity.
Broader tools
IDeaS is expanding its commercial software range beyond core revenue management. Its products now cover market intelligence, performance analysis, budgeting and forecasting, function space planning and marketing alignment.
Rate Data Advantage is designed to give hotels a clearer view of competitor pricing and wider market conditions. Optix helps teams track performance trends and identify areas that need attention.
Other products in the portfolio include RevPlan for budgeting and forecasting, Function Space for event and meeting inventory, and Spotlight for aligning marketing activity with expected demand. Together, the tools are intended to help hotel operators make decisions across departments using shared data.
The shift reflects a broader change in hospitality technology buying, with software spending moving away from isolated analysis towards systems that support joined-up decision-making. For hotel owners and managers, that means combining revenue planning with sales, marketing and operational choices rather than treating them as separate functions.
A customer example highlighted the practical effect of that shift on daily work. "Optix has really allowed me to look at the data in an easier and more effective way. I'm no longer spending time collating data I need to review-instead I have it readily available and can put strategies into play a lot faster. Without IDeaS, we might not have been prepared and could have missed potential revenue that we didn't anticipate," said Ruth Eddy, Revenue Manager, Bavarian Inn Lodge.
Industry shift
IDeaS said the growth in adoption shows hotel companies want software that does more than help set room rates. It argues that operators increasingly want systems that connect decisions across several commercial teams as the sector becomes more data-led.
The company has a large installed base in hospitality, with more than 31,000 installations globally across independent hotels, resorts, large hotel chains, cruise lines and parking businesses. That gives it a broad position in a market where suppliers are trying to expand from specialist pricing tools into more comprehensive planning systems.
For hotels, the appeal of such systems lies in speed and coordination. If commercial teams can view demand signals, pricing activity, budgets and campaign plans in one place, they can respond more quickly when booking patterns change or competitors adjust their pricing.
IDeaS leadership described the change as structural for the sector. "We're witnessing a fundamental shift in hospitality. Revenue management is evolving into commercial strategy, and hotel organizations are looking for technology that helps connect decisions across revenue, marketing, sales and operations. The rapid adoption of solutions like Rate Data Advantage and Optix demonstrates that hoteliers want more than insights-they want the ability to act on them. The future belongs to organizations that can bring together data, intelligence and execution across the entire commercial function," said Dr. Ravi Mehrotra, President, Founder & Chief Scientist, IDeaS.
