GigaDevice opens Minato City office to boost Japan tech ties

GigaDevice has opened a new office in Minato City, Tokyo, deepening its engagement with Japan's semiconductor sector and expanding its local presence in the market.

The establishment of the Japan office follows the company's move to set up its global headquarters in Singapore earlier this year, reflecting a growing focus on international operations and customer support.

GigaDevice, headquartered in Beijing, China, is a fabless semiconductor business with a focus on memory technologies, microcontrollers, sensors, and analogue solutions. The company now operates across China, Singapore, the US, South Korea, Japan, the UK, Germany, Turkey, Italy, and Mexico.

The new Tokyo office is expected to bolster local customer support, foster collaboration within the semiconductor industry, and advance the firm's global innovation agenda.

Growth in Japan

Japan has played a central role in GigaDevice's global business strategy. The company has progressively expanded its local team, developed tailored operational processes for Japanese clients, and put in place a professional service system intended to respond to local needs.

With the opening of the Minato City office, GigaDevice aims to improve technical responsiveness further, enable closer engagement with Japanese customers, and accelerate product validation and commercialisation in the fast-paced technology sector.

GigaDevice's technologies are active in various Japanese industries, including industrial manufacturing, automotive applications, consumer electronics, and the Internet of Things. The organisation has also increased local supply chain integration and ecosystem development alongside Japanese partners. Its current technology portfolio includes Flash memory, MCUs, sensors, and analogue offerings, for which it states there is growing market recognition.

Nidec Corporation, a major customer in Japan, has worked closely with GigaDevice on previous projects and product deployments. Ryuji Omura, Head of Nidec Semiconductor Solutions Centre, commented:
