FPT deploys Plume cloud Wi‑Fi to boost homes in Vietnam

Fri, 20th Mar 2026

FPT has rolled out Plume's cloud-managed Wi-Fi platform across its home broadband base in Vietnam, aiming to improve in-home connectivity and add security features for connected devices.

The deployment covers households on FPT's network and uses Plume's software to manage Wi‑Fi performance inside the home. The system adjusts the home network based on usage patterns and network conditions, according to the companies.

FPT is one of Vietnam's largest telecom and internet providers and is part of FPT Corporation. It sells fibre broadband and IPTV, along with data centre and cloud services and other value-added digital products.

Plume supplies software that internet service providers use to manage home Wi‑Fi. Its platform collects performance data from connected devices and uses analytics to tune connectivity. It also offers network-level security services.

Focus on in-home Wi‑Fi

Operators increasingly treat in-home Wi‑Fi as part of the broadband service rather than a customer-owned extension of the network. Streaming video, video calls, online education and smart home devices have put more pressure on home networks, particularly where multiple users and devices compete for bandwidth.

FPT said its service already includes the latest Wi‑Fi standards in its access equipment and customer premises devices. It has been an early mover in Vietnam on Wi‑Fi 6 and Wi‑Fi 7, and has introduced consumer broadband services with speeds of up to 10Gbps.

The Plume platform adds software control and telemetry across the Wi‑Fi layer inside the home. It applies optimisation methods designed to improve coverage and reliability across connected devices, the companies said.

The system also uses application recognition and traffic prioritisation, identifying activities such as video streaming, video calling and gaming and allocating network resources accordingly, according to the companies.

Plume said the platform relies on cloud analytics and machine learning models trained on usage patterns. It draws on data from tens of millions of households globally and continues to refine performance as new devices and applications appear.

Security features

The deployment also includes security services for home networks. Plume described protections that apply across devices connected to the Wi‑Fi network, including blocking malicious destinations and features such as intrusion detection, internet-of-things anomaly detection and device quarantine.

Security services have become a more common element of managed Wi‑Fi offerings from broadband providers. Operators use them to reduce support calls linked to compromised devices and to give customers more visibility and control over what connects to their home network.

Plume said its platform is used by more than 400 internet service providers worldwide and supports almost half a billion connected devices. It launched its managed Wi‑Fi offer for operators in 2016 and has since expanded into security and operational tooling.

Plume also maintains OpenSync, an open-source framework used to integrate software management functions into broadband devices from multiple vendors. OpenSync comes pre-integrated and supported on several silicon and customer premises equipment software development kits, and works with standards including RDK‑B and prplWave, according to Plume.

Plume has expanded its operational software following its acquisition of Sweepr, which it said adds orchestration tools aimed at operator workflows and customer care.

"Our mission at Plume is to help the world's best internet service providers deliver the best customer experience possible," said Dan Herscovici, President and CEO, Plume.

FPT framed the partnership as part of a broader push to improve the in-home experience as broadband speeds rise and the number of connected devices grows.

"At FPT, improving customer experience is always our top priority," said Mr. Le Trung, Director of Infrastructure Development and Management Centre, FPT Telecom, FPT Corporation.
