EDC partners with Newgen to centralise content management

Wed, 3rd Jul 2024

Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has partnered with Newgen Software to centralise content management for over 1,000 employees. This implementation allows EDC to access information and documents from any location anytime, streamlining their work processes and enhancing their knowledge management capabilities.

The collaboration sees EDC utilising Newgen's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform to centralise its data storage and retrieval. This move is crucial for EDC, as it ensures efficient and secure document handling across various departments.

Energy Development Corporation is the largest producer of geothermal energy in the Philippines and the second largest in the world. It is involved in alternative energy projects, including geothermal, hydroelectric and wind energy projects.

Allan Barcena, Assistant Vice President and Head of Corporate Support Functions at Energy Development Corporation, provided insights into the reasons behind this partnership. "With all our seven new geothermal projects and drilling operations program in full swing, we needed a partner that could help save us time and effort from tedious work processes by putting an efficient enterprise-wide knowledge repository in place," he said. This new system promises to significantly reduce the effort involved in managing EDC's substantial data.

A key aspect of the collaboration was the seamless migration of Energy Development Corporation's data and comprehensive metadata from Google Drive. The integration of Single Sign-On (SSO) with Azure Active Directory has further streamlined user authentication processes, bolstering both security and efficiency in document management.

Pramod Kumar, Head of Business for the Asia-Pacific region at Newgen Software, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership. "We are delighted that EDC chose Newgen to modernise its content management needs. Our ECM platform is designed to provide a seamless and efficient document management experience, empowering EDC to focus on its strategic initiatives in renewable energy," he stated.

Energy Development Corporation's decision to centralise its content management is part of its broader strategy to lead the renewable energy sector. The company is dedicated to sustainability and innovation, consistently exploring new methods to enhance its operations. By leveraging Newgen's platform, EDC aims to create a more streamlined, efficient, and secure document management system that supports its extensive array of energy projects.

This partnership with Newgen Software marks a significant step forward for EDC in optimising its operations and reinforcing its commitment to innovation and efficiency. By adopting advanced content management solutions, EDC is well-positioned to enhance its renewable energy projects and drive sustainable growth in the sector.
