DeepL to deploy NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD for AI advancements

Today

DeepL will become one of the first companies to commercially deploy the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with DGX GB200 systems to enhance its AI translation and communication platform.

The deployment, expected to be fully operational by mid-2025, will furnish DeepL with the necessary computational power to train new models, develop new features, and expand its offerings to businesses and individuals, particularly within Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific region. DeepL's tools, launched in Singapore in March 2024, aid in simplifying and enhancing communication.

Jarek Kutylowski, CEO and Founder of DeepL, said, "DeepL has always been a research-led company, enabling us to develop Language AI for translation that continues to outperform other solutions on the market. This latest investment in NVIDIA accelerated computing will give our research and engineering teams the power necessary to continue innovating and bringing to market the Language AI tools and features that our customers know and love us for."

The deployment includes the NVIDIA DGX GB200 systems, featuring liquid-cooled, rack-scale designs with NVIDIA GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips. These systems allow DeepL to operate high-performance AI models essential for advanced generative AI applications. This infrastructure is designed to deliver high performance and reliability for extensive AI training and inference tasks.

This marks DeepL's third deployment of an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, which offers greater processing capabilities than DeepL Mercury, a Top500 supercomputer, and its previous DGX SuperPOD with DGX H100 systems, which was set up in Sweden last year.

Charlie Boyle, Vice President of the NVIDIA DGX platform at NVIDIA, highlighted the importance of performance for Language AI applications. "Customers using Language AI applications expect nearly instant responses, making efficient and powerful AI infrastructure critical for both building and deploying AI in production," he stated.

"DeepL's deployment of the latest NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD will accelerate its Language AI research and development, empowering users to communicate more effectively across languages and cultures."

DeepL's clientele encompasses over 100,000 businesses and governments worldwide, including half of the Fortune 500 companies and notable enterprises such as Zendesk, Nikkei, Coursera, and Deutsche Bahn. The company's Language AI platform facilitates breaking down language barriers, enabling market expansion and cross-border collaboration.

This announcement comes amid other developments by DeepL in 2024, including establishing a tech hub in New York and enhancements to its Glossary feature. The firm also released a new large language model (LLM) promising superior translation quality compared to GPT-4, Google, and Microsoft. Additionally, DeepL was named in Forbes' 2024 Cloud 100 list and secured USD $300 million in investment funding at a USD $2 billion valuation, led by Index Ventures.
