Celonis & Emporix partner on AI-powered optimisation engine

Mon, 15th Jul 2024

Celonis has announced a significant advancement in process optimisation through a collaboration with Emporix.

The partnership has resulted in the development of an AI-driven process orchestration solution named the Emporix Orchestration Engine. This new platform is designed to help companies achieve end-to-end process optimisation by leveraging Celonis’ Process Intelligence capabilities.

The Emporix Orchestration Engine is reported to be the first of its kind, providing process-context-aware orchestration. It uses Celonis' Process Intelligence to manage processes in real-time. The platform aims to enable businesses to establish agile, data-driven operations and improve efficiency using AI to continually optimise processes with minimal human intervention.

Carsten Thoma, President of Celonis, commented on the limitations of existing tools and automation strategies.

"Existing tools and automation strategies alone cannot deliver the promise of end-to-end process optimisation," Thoma stated.

"By themselves, these only transform individual, linear, and siloed tasks. Businesses need an intelligent, connective management layer to ensure all their resources, systems, and people are working in sync and achieve true end-to-end process optimisation and business transformation."

The Orchestration Engine uses insights known as trigger events from the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform to initiate a dynamic sequence of layered actions across associated systems and tools. This includes automations, workflows, and tasks. Using customised execution templates, it aims to optimise performance against specific business objectives, continually learning and adjusting through monitoring of real process execution.

The key capabilities of the Orchestration Engine include:

  • Process transformation at scale: It enables teams to drive transformative change by acting as the orchestration layer for an organisation's end-to-end processes, seamlessly connecting systems, teams, and automations.
  • Intelligent execution: Powered by the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform, the engine carries out actions with context-awareness, monitoring process realities and dynamically adjusting based on outcomes. This allows for more flexible and intelligent process orchestration.
  • Reduced complexity: Operating as a low-code/no-code platform, it aims to cut through the complexity inherent in any organisation’s process landscape, providing control and real-time visibility.

Eberhardt Weber, CEO of Emporix, emphasised the transformative potential of the new engine.

"With the Emporix Orchestration Engine's ability to harness the power of the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform, we are empowering businesses to reimagine how processes run through intelligent orchestration on a scale that was never before possible," Weber said.

One example of the engine’s application is with AmerCareRoyal, a manufacturer of disposable products for various industries. They utilised the engine to revamp their return process, removing time-consuming manual steps. This led to increased customer satisfaction due to enhanced transparency and customer involvement, as well as improvements in automation rates and working capital.

The Orchestration Engine aims to deliver transformative results across multiple functions such as supply chain, finance, and customer service. For instance, an online retailer could use the solution to automatically trigger inventory discounts, spot buys, stock transfers, and alternate product recommendations, thereby improving working capital while delivering a seamless customer experience.
