CelcomDigi opens 5G AI MediHub for staff health care
CelcomDigi has introduced an in-house healthcare facility called The MediHub at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya, combining 5G connectivity and virtual consultations for staff physical and mental health services.
The Malaysian mobile network operator said the dedicated space gives employees direct access to licensed doctors, psychiatrists and psychologists from the workplace. The company described the initiative as part of a broader focus on staff wellbeing and digital health services.
The MediHub sits within the CelcomDigi Hub and operates as a smart health centre. It offers virtual consultations for common medical issues and structured sessions for mental health support. Staff can attend appointments during work hours in purpose-built rooms rather than travelling off-site.
The facility uses 5G connectivity in combination with artificial intelligence tools developed through CelcomDigi's AI Experience Centre, known as AiX. The company said these tools underpin the digital consultation flow, data collection and reporting functions inside the hub.
"The MediHub reflects our commitment to using technology to enhance everyday healthcare for our employees. By integrating 5G connectivity with AI-driven solutions from CelcomDigi's AI Experience Centre (AiX), we can deliver healthcare facilities that provide easy access to professional services. We are applying our innovations for the betterment of Malaysian enterprises and the nation, and to support the holistic wellbeing of our organisation," said T. Kugan, Chief Innovation Officer, CelcomDigi.
Two-room model
The MediHub operates around two key areas called the Care Room and the Mind Room. Each space focuses on a distinct aspect of staff health, with separate clinical and mental wellness set-ups.
The Care Room supports general medical needs through virtual sessions. Employees connect with licensed medical practitioners through MediDoc, a secure telehealth platform that runs within the space.
Staff use MediKiosk, a smart health station, for basic checks before a consultation. The device records vital signs and produces instant health reports. Medical practitioners receive these readings at the start of each remote session.
The company said the system gives doctors a clearer picture of an employee's physical state in real time. It links the on-site equipment with remote professionals through a standardised process.
The Mind Room focuses on mental health and provides a private area for counselling and psychological care. Employees can schedule virtual sessions with licensed psychiatrists and psychologists.
The room also hosts stress management activities and offers a quiet relaxation zone away from the main office floor. CelcomDigi said it designed the space to encourage employees to seek early support for emotional strain and workplace stressors.
Self-assessment tools are available in the Mind Room for staff who want to review their own mental state. These include the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), which employees can complete before or between sessions with mental health professionals.
Wellbeing strategy
CelcomDigi has placed employee wellbeing at the centre of its internal people strategy. The company said it focuses on psychological and physical safety as part of its approach to building an inclusive and performance-driven workplace.
The operator highlighted that it became the first organisation in Malaysia to secure ISO 45003:2021 certification in 2024. That standard sets guidelines for managing psychosocial risks in the workplace and formalises practices around mental health and wellbeing.
The certification sits alongside the new MediHub facility as part of a wider framework for staff health. CelcomDigi positions both as evidence of its investment in structured wellbeing systems.
AiX healthcare push
The MediHub also functions as a reference site for CelcomDigi's AiX platform. AiX brings together the company's 5G and AI work and applies it across several industry verticals, including health.
CelcomDigi said The MediHub shows how its AI and connectivity tools can support repeatable health services. The company aims to extend similar digital health solutions across enterprises that use its network and AI offerings.
AiX currently works with more than 56 local and international ecosystem partners. The programme includes over 61 documented solutions across eight industry verticals, with 28 use cases already rolled out in live environments.
These use cases draw on real-time connectivity and AI-driven data analysis. CelcomDigi said the framework supports services that require low-latency links, responsive data flows and structured user interfaces.
The company views healthcare as a key area for this work. It has stressed that simple digital tools and virtual models can make health services more accessible inside workplaces.
