BNI collaborates with Cloudera for AI-driven transformation
Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has entered a partnership with Cloudera to boost its business transformation using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). This collaboration will see BNI integrating Cloudera's AI Inference service, leveraging technology from NVIDIA's AI Enterprise software platform.
BNI aims to utilise this partnership to enhance its office productivity, credit mechanisms, and transaction banking platform, leading to a more personalised customer experience. Billie Setiawan, Senior Vice President of BNI, commented on the collaboration, stating, "This strong collaboration among BNI, Cloudera, and NVIDIA will allow BNI to continue innovating and thus further strengthen its presence in the market by offering greater value to our customers and stakeholders."
This strategic move places BNI among the first global enterprises to trial Cloudera's new AI Inference service powered by NVIDIA NIM. The service is designed to streamline the deployment and management of large-scale AI models, ensuring high performance and efficiency while maintaining strict privacy and security standards. BNI is implementing the service within its virtual private cloud, providing a production-grade servicing environment for hosting predictive, GenAI, and large language models with enhanced protection and control.
Sherlie Karnidta, Country Manager Indonesia at Cloudera, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. The implementation builds on BNI's existing use of Cloudera solutions, enabling the bank to scale up its GenAI operations rapidly. These solutions aim to support BNI's transformation journey by offering employees a knowledge-based co-pilot and delivering highly personalised customer service. The bank's data science teams can now deploy AI models quickly, securely, and cost-effectively while maintaining full control over their data.
BNI's use of Cloudera's AI Inference service is part of an overall strategy to drive innovation in banking using advanced AI technologies. Malcolm deMayo, Global Vice President of Financial Services at NVIDIA, highlighted the significance of the collaboration. "Generative AI-driven banking demands top-tier AI technologies to meet the diverse needs of a global customer base. Cloudera's AI Inference service, combined with NVIDIA NIM, delivers the performance and security needed for Bank Negara Indonesia to achieve its innovative AI-driven banking goals," he noted.
Representatives from BNI recently visited Cloudera's and NVIDIA's Executive Briefing Centres in Santa Clara, California, where they met with both companies' leadership to map out BNI's GenAI journey. Discussions included a pilot project of Cloudera's NVIDIA NIM-powered AI Inference service, currently under technology preview, and innovative approaches and technologies to support Indonesia's largest state-owned bank in achieving its transformation goals.
This partnership marks a significant step in BNI's four-year transformation journey, focusing on utilising GenAI to enhance both regional and commercial banking office productivity. As BNI aims to scale its AI operations, the collaboration with Cloudera and NVIDIA is positioned as a critical driver in achieving the bank's broader business transformation objectives.
