Zyxel launches updated GS-100 switches for small offices

Zyxel Networks has introduced updated versions of its GS-100 series 5- and 8-port Gigabit Ethernet unmanaged mini-sized switches tailored for small office and home office environments.

The GS-100 series offers simple plug-and-play solutions that require no additional setup, ideal for users needing effective and straightforward networking capabilities. With the option of 5 or 8 ports, these switches provide robust, high-speed Gigabit connectivity, allowing users to connect a range of devices such as IP phones, network attached storage, routers, personal computers, and game consoles seamlessly.

The front-facing ports and LED indicators facilitate easy port status and device monitoring. For users with bandwidth-sensitive applications, the GS-100 series includes Quality of Service ports to prioritise traffic, ensuring high-speed performance for uses like VoIP and video conferencing.

The compact design of the GS-100 series, measuring as little as 8 or 12 cm in width, positions it noticeably smaller than most smartphones, fitting into limited spaces while maintaining a discrete profile. The fanless design ensures silent operation, a feature appreciated in noise-sensitive environments.

Designed with a metal housing, the GS-100 series switches are durable and maintain operation across various temperature ranges. They comply with the Energy Efficient Ethernet standard, reducing power usage during low traffic periods. Notably, the series claims a reduction in carbon emissions by up to 50.89%, alongside a 26.95% reduction in packaging size from previous models, which enhances transportation efficiency.
