Wasabi Technologies has opened a new hot cloud storage region in Sydney, Australia, using Equinix services.

This is the company's 12th global storage region, and it means organisations in APAC will be able to capitalise on the growing adoption of hybrid cloud and digital-first infrastructure while also addressing data sovereignty.

Wasabi Technologies says there are game-changing technological advancements across many industries, including healthcare, education, energy, video surveillance, and media and entertainment.

It says this environment is pushing Australians to embrace cloud technologies to modernise their infrastructure and efficiently handle the unprecedented amount of data being generated.

GlobalData projects the Australian cloud market to top $14 billion by 2025. To support this growing market, Wasabi says its new location in Sydney provides closer proximity to customers and partners, including Veeam, to reduce latency and keep costs affordable and predictable.
