Teleport teams up with CargoWise to streamline air cargo operations
Thu, 14th Mar 2024

Teleport, the largest air cargo network in Southeast Asia, is set to streamline its operations by using a direct data connection with CargoWise, a logistics execution platform developed by Australian software company WiseTech Global. This collaboration aims to significantly reduce manual procedures, enhance data integrity, and increase operational efficiency within the freight industry.

The Malaysia-based air logistics provider has joined the CargoWise Carrier Connectivity Program. This integration is expected to dramatically ease freight forwarders' access to Teleport's extensive network and drastically enhance the scheduling, booking, confirmation, and management of shipments in real-time.

Teleport boasts a comprehensive air logistics network in Southeast Asia, offering exclusive access to AirAsia's extensive passenger flight belly network, handling freight capacity and third-party airlines. This broad reach enables Teleport to facilitate access to various parts of Asia, including connections to Europe, the Middle East, and the US. As such, Teleport's domestic and international air logistics network currently spans 85 cities in Southeast Asia and 160 cities across the Asia Pacific region.

The new direct data connection with Teleport Cargo equips CargoWise customers, including 24 of the 25 largest global freight forwarders, with the means to quickly and efficiently access Teleport's schedules, capacity, and bookings and alter them as required, all from the comfort of the CargoWise platform.

In discussing the benefits of this integration, Stuart Hayman, Head of Carrier Integration at WiseTech Global, stated, "Asia Pacific represents the largest share of the world air cargo market. Now the many freight forwarders who use CargoWise can easily book and manage shipments with Teleport without leaving CargoWise."

Hayman also pointed out that the API integration "provides Teleport's customers with real-time communication directly within CargoWise, from research and booking through to final execution and digital transmission of the Master Air Waybill. All with the flexibility to modify bookings as needed."

WiseTech Global's incorporation of Teleport into its connectivity program stands as a testament to the increasing trend of digital transformations within the global logistics industry. The goal is to streamline operations, reduce manual processes, improve data integrity and ultimately enhance operational efficiency. Hayman noted that these changes are all part of "greater scalability as a key enabler of Teleport's growth strategies."

The collaboration between Teleport and CargoWise signifies a significant step forward in the digitalisation of the logistics industry, particularly within the air cargo sector in Southeast Asia. By leveraging direct data connections and API integrations, both companies aim to revolutionise the way freight forwarders manage their operations, offering seamless access to Teleport's extensive network and enhancing the efficiency of scheduling, booking, and managing shipments.

As this partnership unfolds, it promises to not only optimise processes for existing players but also pave the way for future advancements and innovations in the global logistics landscape.
