TeknTrash Robotics opens Suzhou base to drive Asian expansion

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

TeknTrash Robotics has announced the opening of a new operational base in Suzhou Industrial Park, China, as part of its international expansion strategy. The company, which specialises in humanoid robotics for waste sorting and recycling, aims to increase its footprint in Asia through the new location.

Asian expansion

The Suzhou base will be used for robot assembly, testing, and local research and development. It will serve as the regional headquarters, allowing TeknTrash Robotics to work more closely with manufacturing partners and better respond to demands from Asian markets. The site's proximity to manufacturing supply chains was a key factor in the decision to establish operations in Suzhou.

The move follows recent collaborations and pilot projects in Europe with partners including Sharp Group and Queen Mary University. With the Suzhou branch, TeknTrash Robotics intends to combine European engineering practices with China's manufacturing capabilities.

Local collaboration

The Suzhou Industrial Park administrative committee has offered support to TeknTrash Robotics. This support extends to technical validation, recruitment of local talent, and optimisation of supply chain operations. The new hub is expected to play a significant role in the development of the company's ALPHA next-generation humanoid, which is being designed to handle waste in both domestic and industrial settings.

"Our decision to enter Suzhou Industrial Park is both strategic and symbolic. Suzhou offers an extraordinary innovation ecosystem and a supportive policy environment for high-tech enterprises. This expansion allows us to combine Europe's engineering excellence with China's manufacturing agility, accelerating our mission to make humanoid robotics accessible and impactful for real-world waste and ESG challenges," said Al Costa, CEO, TeknTrash Robotics.

Market context

TeknTrash Robotics' expansion comes at a time of heightened competition and activity in the robotics sector. Several US-based robotics companies have initiated operations in China during recent months. Meanwhile, another significant player has shut down operations, citing challenging market conditions attributed to a plentiful supply of venture capital for robotics in China.

Operating in China under the name Titan Rui Technology, TeknTrash Robotics will introduce its product suite to the local market. The company is set to showcase demonstrations of its ALPHA humanoid robot in future events alongside local partners.

The company follows a Robotics-as-a-Service (RAAS) business model, offering automation solutions for recycling and waste management firms. The ALPHA humanoid is intended to address environmental, social, and governance (ESG) needs by enhancing the efficiency of waste sorting both in industrial environments and the home.

"This is not just an expansion; it's the start of a new chapter. Our vision is to bring humanoid robotics into everyday environments - from recycling centres to homes - and Suzhou is where this future will begin to take shape," said Costa.
