Tech Data has been appointed a distributor for CloudCasa by Catalogic Software in Singapore and Malaysia, extending an existing relationship beyond Australia and New Zealand.

The appointment gives Tech Data's channel partners in the two Southeast Asian markets access to CloudCasa's tools for Kubernetes data protection, disaster recovery and workload migration. The offering is aimed at organisations running cloud-native applications across cloud, edge and data centre environments.

The expansion comes as businesses in Singapore and Malaysia increase spending on cloud, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. That has lifted demand for ways to protect and recover containerised workloads, an area where suppliers argue older backup products are often less suitable.

CloudCasa is designed for Kubernetes environments, which are widely used to manage containerised applications. Tech Data will make the product available through its regional ecosystem of resellers, managed service providers, systems integrators and enterprise partners.

Partners will be supported through local market coverage, technical support and partner enablement programmes. Tech Data also plans to use its Tech Centre of Excellence to help partners build skills and develop services around cloud-native resilience.

Regional demand

Mark Tan, Vice President, Tech Data Singapore & Tec D Malaysia, said the deal reflects a shift in infrastructure strategy among organisations in both countries.

"Singapore and Malaysia are rapidly advancing their cloud, AI and digital infrastructure ambitions, but that progress must be supported by equally modern approaches to data resilience," Tan said.

He said the company sees room for partners to broaden the services they offer as Kubernetes adoption grows.

"For our partners, this creates an opportunity to expand beyond traditional backup and deliver higher-value services around Kubernetes protection, disaster recovery and workload mobility. By bringing together CloudCasa's specialised capabilities with our local expertise, technical enablement and ecosystem reach, we can help partners address emerging customer requirements and build scalable, recurring services for modern application environments," Tan said.

CloudCasa includes multi-tenancy, file-level recovery, role-based access control and support for container storage across hybrid environments. It is available through software-as-a-service and self-hosted deployment models.

Those features are relevant for service providers managing multiple customer environments, as well as internal platform engineering teams that want to offer backup and recovery tools to application teams on a self-service basis. In practice, the product sits in a market where vendors are trying to address both operational complexity and cyber recovery needs for modern application stacks.

Channel push

Catalogic Software said Singapore and Malaysia are part of its wider Asia-Pacific growth plans. The company is using distributors and channel partners to widen its reach in markets where Kubernetes adoption is rising alongside application modernisation work.

Aravind Kurapati, Head of Channels and Alliances, APAC and GSI, Catalogic Software, said the regional market is moving towards more cloud-native architectures.

"Singapore and Malaysia are important markets in Catalogic's APAC growth strategy, with organisations increasingly adopting Kubernetes to support application modernisation and innovation," Kurapati said.

He said the partnership with Tech Data is intended to help Catalogic reach more partners in both markets.

"That shift creates an urgent need for data protection designed specifically for cloud-native environments. Tech Data's extensive partner network, technical capabilities and strong presence across both markets will help us equip more partners to address this need and deliver resilient, secure Kubernetes environments for their customers," Kurapati said.

Tech Data supports more than 150,000 customers across more than 100 countries, according to company information, and operates across hardware, software and services distribution. For Catalogic, that footprint in Singapore and Malaysia offers a route into local enterprise accounts through established indirect sales channels rather than relying solely on direct market entry.

The announcement also reflects a broader shift in the data protection market, with suppliers increasingly targeting Kubernetes as a distinct workload category. As more business applications move into containers and hybrid cloud environments, distributors and software vendors are positioning specialised backup and recovery products through channel partners with access to enterprise infrastructure budgets.
