Tapway introduces Vision AI platform SamurAI for enterprises

Wed, 14th Aug 2024

Tapway has unveiled SamurAI, a Vision AI platform aimed at enterprises across Southeast Asia. This new platform promises to enable organisations to analyse video footage and images effectively, converting raw data into actionable insights without the need for coding.

SamurAI offers functionalities relevant to diverse applications, including policy compliance enforcement in daily operations, product quality inspection in manufacturing, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) monitoring at warehouses. Further, it can be employed for product counting or classification at plantations, vehicle tracking, hygiene compliance and customer service monitoring in restaurants.

Two key products form the core of the SamurAI platform: SamurAI Copilot and SamurAI Central. SamurAI Copilot is designed to connect effortlessly with CCTV cameras, enabling the immediate activation of AI events through a range of ready-to-use Vision AI models. Meanwhile, SamurAI Central empowers users to build and train their own Vision AI models, all without requiring any coding expertise.

Tapway and Asteria Technology, a no-code software development company, announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to develop an AIoT Suite product bundle, allowing users to deploy end-to-end solutions integrating cameras and IoT sensors to trigger smart actions. This move represents a significant step for Tapway as it seeks to expand its market presence in Southeast Asia and Japan, the home of Asteria's headquarters.

Lim Chee How, CEO of Tapway, highlighted the growing use of cameras in various organisational contexts. “More organisations now use cameras for various reasons such as security surveillance or for manual operational monitoring purposes, but raw video footage and images don’t often provide value unless they are properly analysed,” said Lim.

“So, our SamurAI turns a passive, underutilised CCTV camera into actionable insights that deliver instant value to your organisation. This automated approach makes AI adoption much simpler and faster at an affordable price.”

The SamurAI platform comes equipped with models suited for various applications, such as monitoring product quality on production lines, identifying vehicles on roads, counting oil palm fruits, or ensuring PPE compliance in factories and construction sites. This platform is available to customers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia through subscription packages starting from USD $25 monthly.

Adding another feather to its cap, Tapway has recently become the first Malaysian Independent Software Vendor (ISV) to have its SamurAI Central software listed on AWS Marketplace. This listing facilitates easier and quicker training and deployment of Vision AI solutions for customers.

Expressing enthusiasm about the company's recent advances, Lim said, “Tapway wants to enable more companies around Southeast Asia to embrace Vision AI. We are very glad to have established a strategic alliance with Asteria and listed SamurAI on AWS Marketplace to help us achieve this mission.”
