Straits Interactive launches AI-driven data protection platform

Today

Straits Interactive has introduced DPOinBOX AI, a new software solution utilising Generative AI to advance data protection compliance.

This latest version succeeds the original DPOinBOX, which was launched in 2014 as Singapore's first privacy management software. The original platform helped Data Protection Officers (DPOs) devise comprehensive privacy management frameworks, incorporating training and advisory services within a Data-Protection-as-a-Service (DPaaS) model to conform to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

The newly unveiled DPOinBOX AI is built on the Straits Capabara platform, deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) to bolster the functionalities of DPOs. According to Straits Interactive, this innovation boosts productivity and risk control analysis significantly, completing tasks up to 5 to 10 times faster than traditional methods.

Key features of DPOinBOX AI include the AI DPO Toolkit, which enables DPOs to craft data inventories, data flows, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). An AI DPO Assistant utilises a database of privacy regulations and guidelines to provide 24/7 insights into privacy-related matters, including data breach management.

Additionally, the AI DP Staff Toolkit offers multi-modal AI Tutors to guide personnel on PDPA compliance. It includes tools for AI-powered compliance self-assessments, consent and notice generation, and operational self-help advice. Another notable feature is the AI Self-Help using Capabara Knowledge System, which allows users to upload, store, and query their policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) models for prompt, tailored data protection guidance.

The new AI-driven system aims to enhance efficiency and engagement by providing self-help functions and AI tutors for staff, delivering tangible compliance results, and offering a roadmap towards achieving Data Protection Trustmark certification. It notably reduces the time and effort required for individual users and is designed to be engaging, insightful, and accessible for beginners. This marks an advancement from traditional data protection software, which generally adheres to a rules-based approach and requires training for effective use.

"Our mission has always been to drive innovation in data protection practices," said Kevin Shepherdson, CEO of Straits Interactive. "With DPOinBOX AI, we are setting a new benchmark in privacy management by leveraging AI to provide an unparalleled level of support and efficiency to our clients. We also hope to introduce our clients to the world of Generative AI, which we believe will assist them to increase their productivity and enhance their competitive advantage in the market."

Straits Interactive continues to be dedicated to offering advanced and user-friendly tools that aid in data protection compliance.
