Soneium aligns with LINE to boost web3 mini-app adoption

Soneium and LINE have announced a collaboration to integrate blockchain technology with LINE's mini-apps, with the goal of facilitating broader adoption of web3 platforms.

This integration will bring four successful mini-apps onchain over the coming months, allowing Soneium, powered by Sony Block Solutions Labs, to leverage LINE's presence as a dominant digital platform. LINE's platform currently boasts approximately 200 million active users, providing an opportunity for a significant expansion in web3 interactions.

LINE MINI App builders are set to benefit from Soneium's support, which combines community building, strategic marketing, and intellectual property collaboration, thus creating a fertile environment for developers to focus on innovation.

Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, commented on the significance of this integration: "LINE has built strong presence and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is a next step toward making Soneium more accessible. We believe this collaboration will drive engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve."

Soneium has detailed the first four mini-apps to be launched on LINE: Sleepagotchi LITE, Farm Frens, Moonveil - Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. These mini-apps aim to transition LINE's large user base into the blockchain environment seamlessly.

Sleepagotchi LITE, for instance, is a spin-off of the forthcoming Sleepagotchi Sleep Rewards app for iOS and Android. Its quick gameplay allows users to earn points, which can be transferred to the main app. Having found success on Telegram with over one million users in its initial month, Sleepagotchi sees LINE as a key to its global expansion.

Farm Frens, which initially gained traction as a top-ranked mini-game on Telegram in 2024, intends to attract LINE's Web2 users to cryptocurrency. Developed by Amihan Entertainment, which has raised over USD $10 million in funding, the relaunch via Soneium aims to capitalise on its virality within the web3 community.

Moonveil - Puffy Match is part of the Moonveil.gg ecosystem, known for its zk-L2 and AI-powered capabilities. This mini-game is focused on encouraging community engagement through simple, quick play sessions. By launching on LINE, Puffy Match will extend Moonveil's reach and attract more developers to its gaming ecosystem.

Pocket Mob, a social strategy RPG, enables players to engage in Mafia-style battles and earn NFT rewards. Its integration into LINE via Soneium is expected to appeal to a broader demographic, allowing players to enjoy interactive, social experiences within messenger apps.

The collaboration between LINE's API and MINI Apps with Soneium is part of a broader effort to make web3 more easily accessible. By supporting seamless integration of blockchain technology, Soneium aims to provide users the convenience of web2 platforms while offering the benefits of decentralised applications.

As interest grows among developers for incorporating blockchain into mainstream platforms like LINE, this partnership marks a significant step towards the future of web3 gaming and social apps, indicating that the next wave of mainstream adoption is indeed on the horizon.
