SmartBear, one of the pioneers in the realm of software development and visibility tools, has announced the appointment of Sean McGinn as SVP Global Indirect Sales and Worldwide Partners. McGinn is recognised for his solid professional background with over 25 years of business development and channel partnership experience in global enterprise software sales. His latest role was as Global Head of Partnerships at Tamr, where he successfully set up a comprehensive alliance and partnership programme with major cloud vendors, select resellers, strategic ISVs, and systems integrators.

Melissa Campbell, CRO at SmartBear, expressed her excitement about the new addition to their team, “We are delighted to have Sean join the SmartBear team. With over two decades of experience driving partner-led revenue growth, Sean has consistently shown an exceptional ability to build strong strategic partnerships, lead high-performing sales teams, and scale business through indirect channels. Our partners are a crucial component of our success, and Sean's experience will help us continue providing maximum value to these important relationships. We are confident Sean will seamlessly integrate into our culture of excellence and customer focus as we continue providing best-in-class solutions to dev teams across the software development lifecycle.”

Before his tenure at Tamr, McGinn held various business development and partnership roles at SAP for 12 years. He lead the strategic cloud partnerships for SAP's enterprises-focused cloud venture. Further past roles include Vice President, Global Systems Integrators at Virtustream and Director, Channel Strategy and Development at Enterasys Networks. McGinn's career also includes a stint in the U.S. Army, serving as a military intelligence officer at various U.S. and global locations.

On his appointment, McGinn states, “High-performing partner and channel teams are key to scaling company revenue and driving profitable growth. In concert with cross-functional departments, I am looking forward to working with the SmartBear team to dramatically scale our indirect sales efforts while supporting everyone's contributions as they continue to grow in their careers.”

SmartBear is on a mission to fortify its presence in EMEA and APAC regions, home to a strong portfolio of technical talent and some of the globe's fastest-growing economies, where demand for software development tools is on the rise. As a part of this drive, local partners are engaged in panel discussions at the forthcoming SmartBear Connect London, slated for Wednesday, 11th October 2023.

Bolstering SmartBear's global growth plans, McGinn will helm a growing network of partners inclusive of cloud vendors, ISVs, and solution providers, along with distributors, consultants, systems integrators, technology deployment consultancies, and value-added resellers. This new appointment reinforces the company's commitment to building robust partnerships for driving long-term revenue growth and providing the best solutions to developers across the software development lifecycle.
