Sinch appoints Angus Mansfield to lead APAC channel sales growth

Yesterday

Sinch has appointed Angus Mansfield as Vice President, Channel Sales for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

In his new position, Mansfield is set to manage and grow the company's partnerships and channel sales strategy across APAC. His responsibilities will include overseeing the indirect sales team, managing a broad range of partner relationships—including carriers, resellers, application service providers, system integrators, and other ecosystem partners—and identifying opportunities for expansion and increased growth in the region.

Mansfield is based in Sydney and joins the APAC leadership team at Sinch. Prior to this role, he headed the partnerships team at monday.com, covering business across 13 APAC markets. Before joining monday.com, Mansfield was the founder of XCentral, a systems integrator and managed service provider, and subsequently led the business through its acquisition by Nexon Asia Pacific, where he then held a senior sales leadership role.

The appointment comes as the customer communications sector continues to see notable expansion, with research valuing the market at USD $85 billion today and anticipating growth to USD $130 billion by 2029. The sector's growth has been attributed to mounting expectations for timely, relevant, and highly personalised communications, bolstered further by advancements in generative AI. Businesses in the region and globally now face increasing pressure to consistently deliver on these expectations to retain engagement and customer trust.

Sinch, which supports messaging, voice, and email communications for businesses, has placed strategic emphasis on partnerships and ecosystem development as central to its global expansion. Across the world, the company counts more than 500 partnerships and has integrated its technology platform with a variety of partner environments. According to company data, 25% of Sinch's business is driven by indirect sales, and the company reports a 68% year-on-year increase in gross profits among prioritised partners as the partnership strategy matures.

The broader communications environment is rapidly evolving with forthcoming technology such as rich communication services (RCS), which are expected to offer fresh opportunities for Sinch's partners to deliver new solutions to the market.

Sinch plays an unseen but critical role in how our economy and society function. More than 800 billion emails, messages and calls were initiated by businesses on the platform in 2024 alone - and new technology and products are coming.

Mansfield also commented on the industry backdrop and the company's prospects, stating,

The need for accurate, timely and reliable communication with customers is only increasing. Customers expect seamless, tailored communications and to build their own personal relationships with brands. Organisations that don't deliver this are being left behind, and this presents an exciting opportunity for Sinch to grow further in the region.

The company's focus on indirect sales and partnership-led growth is underpinned by its history of integrating solutions into partner platforms to deliver value for both parties involved. The emerging trends, such as the expansion of generative AI capabilities, suggest a continued acceleration of demand for more sophisticated and responsive communications platforms in both the public and private sectors.

Wendy Johnstone, Executive Vice President, APAC at Sinch, commented on the appointment:

Angus brings a strategic mindset and a wealth of experience from across the APAC region, particularly in building and scaling channel ecosystems. His purposeful energy and collaborative leadership will be key to deepening our partner engagement and aligning our go-to-market efforts. With Angus on board, we're well positioned to empower our partners to better serve customers—delivering tailored, high-impact solutions that meet evolving needs across the region.

Sinch supports over 175,000 businesses with its customer communications services, enabling enterprises to connect with their customers through a combination of messaging, voice, and email. As businesses in APAC continue to place greater emphasis on seamless, data-driven customer engagement, Sinch's strategic focus on partnerships and ecosystem growth is expected to remain a core part of its operational direction.
