ServiceNow launches secure SPP-SG platform with NYP to boost AI skills

Yesterday

ServiceNow has launched the ServiceNow Protected Platform Singapore (SPP-SG), a secure and regulatory-compliant cloud platform focused on supporting AI innovation across Singapore's government and regulated sectors.

The company introduced the SPP-SG platform as a solution that stores and processes data within Singapore, enabling public agencies and regulated industries to deploy AI-powered workflows that meet stringent national security and data privacy standards.

Education partnership

Alongside the platform launch, ServiceNow has formed a partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) aimed at accelerating AI skills development among students, supporting Singapore's objective of fostering a digitally resilient economy.

Through this initiative, NYP students will gain hands-on experience developing real-world AI solutions on SPP-SG, which will be applied to government use cases. These efforts support Singapore's goal of building a trusted and resilient AI ecosystem by bridging practical experience with academic learning.

ServiceNow and NYP will jointly develop AI-focused curricula, industry certifications, and applied research projects leveraging the ServiceNow Platform. Students will undertake projects that address public sector challenges and subsequently deploy their solutions securely via the SPP-SG platform.

As part of the partnership, NYP will serve as a testbed for innovations generated by the ServiceNow Digital Innovation Hub. This aims to provide students not just with theoretical knowledge but direct industry exposure.

This collaboration with ServiceNow enables our students to deepen their AI capabilities through meaningful internships and hands-on industry projects. The collaboration will also elevate how we nurture and develop talent at NYP to succeed in an AI-powered economy.

Ms Tan Soon Keow, Director, School of Information Technology at NYP, underscored the initiative's value in preparing students for the demands of a workforce increasingly shaped by AI.

Talent and certification

The collaboration is expected to train more than 1,500 pre-employment training (PET) and continuing education and training (CET) students by 2030. The focus is to equip NYP students with in-demand skills needed for the evolving job market in Singapore.

Students pursuing this pathway at NYP's School of Information Technology will have the opportunity to obtain the 'Certified System Administrator Certification', marking their capability in utilising and managing the ServiceNow platform.

Platform security and compliance

SPP-SG is constructed on Microsoft Azure infrastructure, reflecting ServiceNow's ongoing partnership with Microsoft. ServiceNow stated that the platform allows data residency for all customer information by ensuring that data is stored, processed, and secured entirely within Singapore's borders.

This focus on residency and compliance is designed to support the increasing regulatory requirements and address data protection concerns in sectors such as public administration, finance, and healthcare. SPP-SG incorporates enhanced security features — including those aligned with international standards — and aims to achieve MTCS Level 3 certification, the highest standard for cloud security in Singapore for highly sensitive workloads.

ServiceNow statement

This marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to Singapore – a nation that has long set the standard for secure, responsible innovation. With SPP-SG, we're enabling government and regulated industries to innovate with AI without compromising security, while our collaboration with institutions like NYP helps ensure Singapore continues to lead with talent, trust, and technology.

Pat Casey, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Dev Ops at ServiceNow, cited the platform's launch and partnership as key elements in supporting Singapore's national digital initiative.

ServiceNow noted that the SPP-SG platform has undergone rigorous security processes and received certifications against multiple international information security standards. The platform is also currently pursuing further certification under MTCS Level 3, underscoring its goal to meet the needs of public sector agencies managing highly sensitive data. An independent audit report will be made available on request to give agencies and enterprises confidence in its compliance capabilities.

The introduction of the SPP-SG platform and the collaboration with NYP form part of ServiceNow's continued efforts to support Singapore's Smart Nation vision by facilitating secure, large-scale deployment of AI solutions and developing a workforce with practical, industry-relevant skills.
