Seeing Machines wins robotics contract for factory use

Seeing Machines has secured an advanced development contract with a global industrial technology company focused on factory automation and human-robot interaction.
The contract covers an initial programme to deliver a robotics proof-of-concept application for a factory automation setting. The work is intended to lay the foundation for further joint development across industrial automation and robotics.
London-listed Seeing Machines said the project builds on technology it has presented through its Perception Map system. It described the work as an application of its Human-Centred AI approach to improve interaction between people and machines in operational environments.
The deal expands beyond Seeing Machines' established transport safety markets, where it is known for vision-based monitoring systems that track human attention and behaviour. Its technology has been used primarily in driver monitoring systems for automotive, commercial fleet, off-road and aviation customers.
That background has shaped the company's broader pitch around human factors and machine perception. Its systems combine AI algorithms, embedded processing and optics to interpret where a person is looking and assess elements of cognitive state linked to risk.
Broader application
The latest contract suggests Seeing Machines is seeking to apply that expertise in industrial settings, where robotics developers are under pressure to improve safety and usability as humans work more closely with automated systems. Human-robot interaction has become a growing area of investment across manufacturing, particularly in tasks where people and machines share workspaces.
In these environments, perception systems that can identify a person's position, attention and likely intent are increasingly relevant to reducing accidents and improving workflow. A proof-of-concept programme can also serve as an early test of whether technology developed for one sector can be adapted commercially for another.

Its core technology has focused on real-time monitoring of operators, including measuring gaze direction and assessing driver state. The company has argued that this knowledge of human attention and risk can be transferred to other operational environments where safety depends on timely machine understanding of human actions.
The new contract is an example of that strategy in practice, placing the company's perception technology in a factory automation context rather than a vehicle cockpit.
