Red Hat & Intel team up to boost enterprise AI with OpenShift AI

Wed, 8th May 2024

Red Hat and Intel are partnering to enhance enterprise AI applications with Red Hat OpenShift AI. The collaboration will deliver comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) solutions utilising Intel's advanced AI products. The initiative will ensure a more seamless execution of tasks such as model development, training, management, and monitoring across a hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Given the expensive nature of maintaining current systems while adopting new ones, many organisations seek flexible, scalable, and robust AI infrastructures. These systems need to marry the hardware and software from a variety of suppliers efficiently. The new revolutionary solution presented by Red Hat and Intel responds to these needs with a hybrid cloud approach. This strategy enables the AI stack to function beyond a single data centre or cloud platform, embodying interoperability from the data centre to the cloud and even to the edge. Consequently, the partnership will allow businesses to develop, run, and deploy AI workloads wherever needed.

Red Hat OpenShift AI, which will now support Intel’s AI products such as Intel Gaudi AI accelerators and Intel Arc GPUs, will provide a more consistent foundation for AI applications. This robust platform will facilitate businesses' smooth navigation of the AI landscape across any environment, from the edge to the cloud. Further, Intel's extensive product portfolio for businesses includes a wide range of its AI hardware and software, which will enhance the control and optimization of AI workloads.

Through this partnership, Intel is introducing a diverse collection of scalable open-source commercial software ready to be deployed out of the box. These could be effortlessly incorporated with Red Hat OpenShift AI and examined for interoperability to function seamlessly in all IT environments. Intel's supported software array includes Intel Tiber Edge Platform, Intel Tiber AI Studio, and oneAPI AI Tools. Qualified customers will also have an exclusive chance to request access to Intel Gaudi AI accelerators through the Intel Tiber Developer Cloud.

The Red Hat and Intel collaboration drives AI innovation by offering organisations the power to deploy anywhere on their platform of choice, thus quickening their time to market. By harnessing the power of their respective ecosystems, the collaboration provides ubiquitous AI structures that are cost-effective and scalable, extending AI capabilities and fostering more advanced AI solutions and services with Red Hat OpenShift AI and Intel AI products.

The chief technology officer and senior vice president of Global Engineering at Red Hat, Chris Wright, emphasises the importance of the partnership, stating, "The AI landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, and organisations need solutions that are both agile and powerful to keep pace. Red Hat OpenShift AI, combined with the breadth and performance of Intel's AI portfolio, offers a compelling solution for businesses to accelerate their AI journey and unlock new possibilities."

Similarly, Justin Hotard, Vice President and General Manager of Data Center and AI Group at Intel welcomes the collaboration: "Together, Red Hat and Intel are committed to helping organisations develop and unlock the full potential of scalable and more secure AI systems based on open ecosystems and standards."
