OutSystems has made its Agent Experience product generally available, opening its software platform to third-party AI coding agents.

The product is designed to let organisations use tools including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Kiro within the OutSystems environment while maintaining governance and deployment controls.

OutSystems says the system operates at the software design level rather than only generating code. This approach allows external AI coding agents to shape application architecture while the platform generates code in a deterministic way.

The company is targeting large organisations, particularly those in regulated sectors where security, testing, auditability and deployment control are key concerns. Agent Experience supports public cloud, private cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployments.

The release comes as businesses continue testing AI-assisted software development while grappling with code quality and oversight. OutSystems cited recent developer survey data showing that 74% of AI-generated code requires significant rework after generation or is never deployed to production.

Governance focus

According to OutSystems, Agent Experience allows developers to keep using their preferred AI coding agents without abandoning the rules already embedded in enterprise software. The product automatically applies system dependencies, data relationships and existing business logic.

The pitch addresses a growing concern among technology leaders about fragmented code and the operational burden of integrating AI-generated output into large software estates. OutSystems is positioning the product as a way to reduce technical debt and preserve consistency across development teams.

"Coding agents have unlocked unprecedented velocity, but the real friction is operational overhead and fragmented code," said Woodson Martin, Chief Executive Officer, OutSystems.

"OutSystems Agent Experience gives AI leaders the speed of coding agents with the compliance, security and scalability required for mission-critical systems. With sovereign deployment options and architectural coherence built in, Agent Experience delivers reliable, production-ready software for even the most heavily regulated industries," Martin said.

Customer examples

OutSystems pointed to early users including YESCO, Lowenstein Sandler and Normal as examples of how the product is being used in practice.

YESCO, a sign company, has used the system with Claude Code in its application development process. According to OutSystems, the company reduced software release cycles to two weeks while keeping quality and compliance requirements in place. The work has included applications intended to cut design time and give customers immediate pricing information.

Lowenstein Sandler, a US law firm, is using OutSystems with Claude Code and Agent Experience to build legal applications. OutSystems says the firm created a production-ready Litigation Matter Tracker in under three hours and cut application finishing times from one hour to between five and 10 minutes while maintaining security, compliance and auditability requirements.

Normal, a Danish retailer, has used the product as part of its software development lifecycle, according to OutSystems. A single developer built an application in two weeks, compared with a previous timeline of around six weeks, while preserving internal governance standards.

"OutSystems Agent Experience is game-changing," said Mike Neyman, Director of Software Integration and Operations, YESCO.

"The platform's open, model-independent approach lets us keep using our coding agents of choice and helps us delight executives and customers with AI innovation while maintaining the governance and security required for enterprise use," Neyman said.

Industry push

The launch is also part of a broader OutSystems effort to build software products for regulated industries. Alongside the general availability announcement, the company said it is adding Agentic First Notice of Loss to its insurance offerings and making an Insurance Agent Kit available through its Forge marketplace with pre-built claims agents.

Those products sit alongside its Agentic Loan Applications offering for banking. OutSystems argues that the same development model allows customers to adapt sector-specific software components with the AI coding tools they already use.

The move reflects a wider shift in the enterprise software market, where vendors are trying to give customers more flexibility over model and tooling choices while retaining control over compliance and software delivery. Rather than requiring companies to adopt a single coding assistant, OutSystems is betting that open access to several agents, combined with centralised oversight, will appeal to organisations with complex technology and regulatory needs.

Agent Experience is now generally available.
