NEC expands Broadcom partnership to launch new VCF private cloud

Wed, 19th Nov 2025

NEC has expanded its strategic partnership with Broadcom to offer VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) as an integrated solution for enterprises in Japan and across global markets.

The collaboration is designed to boost the deployment of modern private cloud infrastructure, with a focus on supporting workloads such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data-intensive business applications.

Product integration

NEC will provide VCF as a fully integrated solution on its infrastructure platforms. This will allow customers to update their private cloud environments while benefitting from simplified operations and increased system reliability. The combined proposition brings together infrastructure, systems integration, and managed service capabilities to the enterprise market, according to both companies.

AI-ready focus

The partnership aims to deliver private cloud environments that support the performance and scalability requirements of AI and modern application workloads. NEC is working with Broadcom to build cloud platforms that enable enterprises to manage a range of applications - from traditional to next-generation technologies - through a single consistent operational model.

NEC's integration of VCF forms part of its internal Client Zero strategy. As part of this initiative, NEC has deployed VCF within its own systems to gain hands-on experience with implementation and management, which is expected to inform its wider customer offering and managed services.

Japanese market

The announcement also emphasises tailored support for Japanese enterprises. NEC will integrate VCF with its systems expertise and local service capabilities, aiming to help businesses advance digital transformation while maintaining operational consistency in both data centre and edge computing settings.

The expansion of the relationship extends a two-decade collaboration between Broadcom and NEC in enterprise technology. NEC is offering VCF-based services to customers through its BluStellar Scenario solution portfolio, as well as through a managed service launched in October 2025. The new NEC Private Cloud Infrastructure service, powered by VCF, is positioned to help customers build hybrid cloud environments and respond to evolving workload demands.

Unified private cloud

VCF has been adopted by nine of the top 10 Fortune 500 companies, according to Broadcom. The technology brings together the flexibility of public cloud resources with the perceived security and lower total cost of ownership of private cloud infrastructure. It is intended to provide a foundation for consistent operation and management across an enterprise's application estate.

"For many years, NEC has been a key partner in driving VMware business initiatives. We are delighted to strengthen our strategic partnership with Broadcom," said Norihiko Kimura, Corporate Executive Vice President (Executive Officer) and President of the Digital Platform Services Business Unit at NEC.

"Starting in October, NEC began offering private cloud services built on VCF. These solutions are based on the VMware expertise we have accumulated over the years and the knowledge gained through our Client Zero practices."

"By integrating these offerings into the BluStellar Scenario, we aim to collaborate with Broadcom to support digital transformation (DX) for our customers and society."

"Through our strategic partnership with NEC, we are committed to helping customers adopt a modern private cloud. VCF enables customers to achieve a simplified and unified model for integrating and managing private cloud environments," said Hikaru Yamauchi, Japan Country Manager, VMware K.K.
"By redefining IT infrastructure with VCF, we aim to help our customers address key challenges such as accelerating innovation, managing costs, and ensuring sovereignty and security."
