Myriota launches FlexSense to revolutionise satellite IoT solutions
Myriota, a leader in global satellite IoT technology, has unveiled a new hardware platform named FlexSense. This innovative product promises to drastically reduce the time it takes for developers to bring sensor-based solutions to market, cutting the timeline from years to mere months. FlexSense represents the most rapidly deployable platform of its kind currently available globally.
The hardware is designed with advanced features, including Bluetooth Low Energy and multiple sensor capabilities, supported by Myriota's renowned low-power satellite connectivity. With the ability to operate on four AA batteries, FlexSense promises an impressive lifespan of over ten years. The platform aims to support a wide range of applications, from location monitoring to environmental sensing tasks such as tracking humidity, pressure, temperature, and vibration.
One of the standout features of FlexSense is its ease of use, from unboxing to installation within minutes. It is touted as a code-free platform, making it accessible for a broad range of solution providers and OEMs. The device is particularly equipped to handle demanding environments, housed in an IP67-rated, UV-resistant enclosure that operates in extreme temperatures from -30°C to +70°C (-22°F to 158°F). Additionally, it comes with a preinstalled 3-metre cable and versatile sensor interfaces, including analogue, digital, serial, and I2C.
Ben Cade, CEO of Myriota, highlighted the transformative potential of FlexSense. "With FlexSense we redefine the IoT landscape, making it easier than ever before for developers to design and deploy IoT solutions that work anywhere," Cade stated. He noted that the technology's adaptability with various sensors allows partners to rapidly customise the hardware to meet specific requirements across a myriad of use cases.
The device has already undergone rigorous testing ahead of its global rollout. Notably, Grundfos, a Denmark-based global pump and water solutions company, has utilised FlexSense hardware to develop a robust pump and tank monitoring system. Tom Drew, Global Business Development Manager at Grundfos, praised Myriota's contribution. "Myriota is an indispensable partner for our business, enabling us to deliver our energy and water solutions for a wide range of use cases across the globe. Their low-power connectivity enables our customers to optimise operations over huge distances, reduce energy consumption, and maximise sustainability," Drew affirmed.
As FlexSense uptake grows, OEMs can transition from using the ready-to-deploy hardware to fully customised solutions via the Myriota Module, offering a quick and low-risk route to tailored IoT solutions. This flexibility provides economic and form factor benefits suited to individual needs.
Myriota has confirmed that it is accelerating deployments across several regions, including APAC, the USA, EMEA, and LATAM. The company reported a remarkable 300% growth in deployed devices during FY2023. Myriota's technological ecosystem serves a broad spectrum of sectors, including agriculture, water management, logistics, and environmental conservation.
