Milestone opens Singapore hub for AI video security
Milestone Systems has opened a new Asia Experience Centre in Singapore, expanding its regional footprint as organisations across the region increase spending on intelligent video and integrated security systems.
The facility is designed as a hub where customers and partners can design solutions and test video technologies in real-world scenarios. It will focus on deployments using data analytics, hybrid-cloud architectures and AI.
The opening comes as the Asia-Pacific physical security market is forecast to rise from USD $42.25 billion in 2025 to USD $59.54 billion by 2030, according to figures cited by Milestone. Organisations across sectors are also shifting from legacy closed-circuit television systems to IP-based and cloud-enabled platforms, with greater use of analytics and device integration.
Regional demand
Demand for intelligent video and integrated security tools has grown alongside urbanisation and infrastructure build-outs in major Asian cities. Operators of transport hubs, airports and public venues are increasing investment in systems that support real-time monitoring and incident response. Hospitality groups, retailers and manufacturers are also adopting video management and analytics as part of broader operational technology programmes.
The centre will host scenario testing and multi-vendor integration, including high-density environments such as airports, urban transport networks and industrial sites. Milestone said it will be used to evaluate how AI-driven workflows perform under real-world constraints such as video quality, data continuity and cybersecurity controls.
Video is increasingly used as a data source for applications beyond security. Businesses are applying computer vision to operational monitoring, safety compliance and process optimisation. This has increased interest in systems that connect cameras, sensors and other data feeds while meeting governance and compliance requirements.
AI workflows
Milestone is positioning the centre around the adoption of AI systems that can plan, reason and execute tasks with less direct human input. In this context, it said trusted data is a requirement for deployment. The centre will be used to test how video and sensor data work together in complex operational workflows.
"Asia is the world's most dynamic security and smart infrastructure market, and enterprises are expecting deeper operational intelligence and more adaptable system architectures," said Kiean Khoo, Asia Business Head, Milestone Systems. "Our expanded Singapore hub gives the region the capabilities, collaboration space, and expertise required to address these new opportunities and scale innovation."
Partners play a major role in how video management systems are delivered in Asia, where deployments often involve multiple camera vendors, analytics providers, systems integrators and cloud platforms. Interoperability has become a key purchasing criterion, particularly for large sites running a mix of older and newer equipment.
Milestone's approach centres on an open-platform model, combining video management software with integrations to third-party devices and applications. The Experience Centre will be used to model integrated environments and test how different components work together.
"Our expanded presence in Singapore reflects two clear realities: the scale and pace of demand across Asia, and the importance of scaling through open ecosystems and responsible innovation," said Morten Illum. "The Experience Centre will play a pivotal role in helping partners and customers build AI-enabled solutions that are trustworthy, interoperable and ready for real-world complexities."
Product portfolio
Milestone sells XProtect video management software and BriefCam video analytics, and offers Arcules, a cloud video surveillance service. The company is part of the Canon Group and is headquartered in Copenhagen.
Responsible use of AI is becoming a larger part of supplier messaging in the security and surveillance sector. Customers in regulated industries face additional scrutiny over biometric use, retention periods and data access, while public sector buyers are weighing privacy expectations alongside security requirements.
Milestone said it is working on responsible vision AI through Project Hafnia, which it describes as a regulatory-compliant video data library, and through brighter AI anonymisation technology.
"As the region accelerates into the AI-era, our customers are looking for trusted, high-quality data to power autonomous decision-making," said Khoo. "The new Experience Centre is built to help organisations validate AI-driven workflows safely and responsibly. It lets businesses experiment, optimise and innovate with the confidence that their systems meet the highest standards of governance, transparency and human oversight."
The Singapore site adds to a growing network of vendor-run labs and demonstration facilities used for partner training, co-development and customer proof-of-concept projects. Milestone said the centre will support cross-industry collaboration and solution design as regional buyers modernise physical security infrastructure and expand the use of video data in operations.
"Milestone Systems is deepening its role as a catalyst for innovation across the region's evolving security and smart-infrastructure landscape with the launch of the Asia Experience Centre. By combining open-platform video technology, responsible AI principles, and a strong partner ecosystem, the Centre will help accelerate Asia's transition toward safer, smarter and more data-driven environments," said Illum.
