Krungsri enhances data strategy with Informatica for digital growth

Fri, 19th Sep 2025

Krungsri has selected Informatica to support its ongoing digital transformation and efforts to enhance its data management capabilities.

Krungsri, also known as Bank of Ayudhya, is one of Thailand's major financial institutions in terms of assets, loans, and deposits. As the organisation looks to strengthen its digital strategy, it has identified a unified approach to managing and governing its data assets as a key priority.

The bank serves customers across Thailand and throughout the ASEAN region, totalling more than 19 million individuals. With such a large customer base, Krungsri said that a robust data governance framework is crucial, particularly to guarantee data quality, security, privacy, and compliance with a range of regulatory standards as it continues its growth strategy.

To meet these goals, Krungsri has implemented Informatica's Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC) together with Cloud Data Quality (CDQ). Both solutions are powered by Informatica's Intelligent Data Management CloudTM platform. This technology adoption comes after Krungsri migrated to a hybrid cloud environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

With this move, Krungsri said it is addressing major challenges such as data discovery, metadata management, and improvements to data quality. The bank aims for these tools to help strengthen data integrity and support greater trust across all of its operations.

Strategy and customer service

Tul Roteseree, Head of Enterprise Data and Analytics Group at Krungsri, commented on the adoption of the new data governance solutions, stating,

Recognizing the pivotal role of data in the banking sector, Krungsri strategically adopts these advanced data governance solutions to enhance data quality, accessibility and integrity. With a scalable and robust governance framework underpinning our cloud-enabled, secure technology infrastructure, we are not only helping to ensure regulatory compliance and boosting operational efficiency, but also driving customer-centric innovation and superior customer service to reinforce our leadership in the financial industry.

Krungsri's approach reflects an awareness of the banking sector's increasing reliance on trusted data for managing digital operations and meeting regulatory obligations.

The integrated use of Informatica's CDGC and CDQ platforms is expected to help the bank manage data traditionally isolated across numerous business units. One goal is for Krungsri to break down data silos within the organisation, making it possible to derive more value from information assets and respond more effectively to both regulatory and customer needs.

Informatica's perspective

Representing Informatica, Steven Seah, Vice President for Informatica ASEAN, India and Korea, discussed the importance of the partnership in enabling digital transformation for financial sector clients. He said,

Krungsri's transformation journey demonstrates how strategic data governance, enabled through our partnership, can help large financial institutions to navigate complex data landscapes, accelerate innovation and realize meaningful operational value. With Informatica as a trusted partner, Krungsri is leading the way in making banking in Thailand truly data-driven and AI-enabled.

According to Informatica, the partnership with Krungsri highlights the role of effective data governance within digital transformation programmes, especially for organisations operating in regulated industries such as banking.

Regulatory and operational drivers

As financial institutions move towards hybrid and cloud-based technology environments, data governance has become a central consideration. For Krungsri, the integration of cloud-based tools for data cataloguing and quality seeks to provide reliable oversight over its data assets. This is in response to both increasing regulatory scrutiny and the objective to offer improved and more personalised digital services to customers.

Krungsri's continued investment in data management infrastructure and governance frameworks is designed to offer long-term value in operational efficiency as well as compliance with evolving standards. Improved data quality and accessibility are also expected to enhance trust in the banking experience for Krungsri's customers across ASEAN.

The collaboration is ongoing as Krungsri works to solidify unified, AI-powered data management as part of its broader digital and operational strategy.
