Kingston retains top spot in DRAM market for 21st year

Mon, 18th Nov 2024

Kingston Technology has been ranked as the top third-party DRAM module supplier, maintaining a dominant market share for 2023.

According to figures released by analyst firm TrendForce, Kingston Technology holds an estimated 68.8% share of the DRAM module market. The latest rankings reveal that despite a 28% year-on-year decline in industry sales throughout 2023, Kingston managed to sustain its position as a global leader for the 21st consecutive year.

The TrendForce report indicated that the world's top ten memory module companies accounted for 93% of total sales in 2023, with Kingston leading the pack. The noted industry-wide decline was attributed to an inventory correction phase in the consumer electronics sector, following the pandemic. High utilisation rates among DRAM suppliers also contributed to declining prices, although the market did see signs of recovery in the latter half of the year.

Consumer demand for electronic products has fluctuated post-pandemic. However, Kingston's broad brand appeal and extensive regional market presence helped mitigate its sales decline, preserving its significant market share.

In the past year, Kingston Technology extended its product range by launching the Kingston FURY Renegade Pro DDR5 RDIMM. This product provides overclockable server-grade DDR5 memory, specifically designed for creators, engineers, and data scientists to meet the requirements of modern applications. The company also saw its 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB Server Premier DDR5 4800MT/s Registered DIMMs validated for compatibility with the 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, previously known as Sapphire Rapids.

Additionally, Kingston upgraded its Kingston FURY Renegade DDR4 memory with a refreshed design featuring dual-tone heat spreaders. Earlier in the year, Kingston marked a milestone with the shipment of over 100 million overclockable modules.

In response to the findings, Kingston stated, "The 2023 findings from TrendForce reflect the company's ongoing strength and adaptability in the face of yet another demanding business year." The statement went on to say, "This milestone not only reaffirms Kingston's dominant presence in the market but also underscores the company's resilience and significance within the industry, as we now proudly maintain our top position for the 21st consecutive year."
