FYI, this story is more than a year old

Intelsat, a leading provider of inflight connectivity, has announced the appointment of Gaurav Kharod as the regional vice president for its Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Kharod will take on the responsibilities from Terry Bleakley, who will transition to a part-time senior advisory role at Intelsat. Kharod previously served as the managing sales director of South Asia and India, where he implemented a successful entry strategy for Intelsat's high throughput satellite (HTS) IS-33e in the Indian market. This created a roadmap for the growth of all the different business verticals of Intelsat, including Media, Networks, FlexMaritime, and Commercial Aviation, to be fully represented in the Indian and South Asia markets. Jean-Philippe Gillet, Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Network and Media at Intelsat, expressed his excitement about Kharod's appointment: “Intelsat is on an ambitious growth trajectory in the APAC market, and Gaurav brings with him the expertise that will help us achieve these goals. I look forward to achieving many milestones under Gaurav’s leadership in the region.”

Kharod holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering as part of his college education in Gujarat, India. Before joining Intelsat, Kharod held leadership roles at Hughes India and Viasat Inc. in the satellite domain, along with a stint at Conax AS in the media industry. He brings a mix of expertise across sales, product management, business development, regulatory, and policy affairs.

Intelsat's global team of professionals is focused on providing seamless and secure, satellite-based communications to government, NGO and commercial customers through the company's next-generation global network and managed services. The company operates one of the world's largest and most advanced satellite fleets and connectivity infrastructures, enabling people and their tools to communicate, cooperate and coexist. With its legacy of innovation and focus on addressing a new generation of challenges, Intelsat is leading the digital transformation of the industry.

Kharod is excited to take on his new role, saying, "I am thrilled to lead the APAC team and build upon the strong foundation created by Terry Bleakley. I look forward to working closely with our customers and partners in the region to deliver innovative solutions and drive growth for the company." With Kharod's expertise and Intelsat's focus on innovation, the company is poised for continued success in the APAC market.
