Indosat launches SheHacks 2025 for women's digital inclusion

Today

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has announced the launch of SheHacks 2025, expanding its technology-driven training programme to support women's empowerment and digital inclusivity across Indonesia.

SheHacks, which has transitioned into a nationwide movement after five years as a programme, aims to address the gender gap in technology and digital entrepreneurship. Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison's initiative focuses on creating an inclusive, sustainable, and collaborative platform for Indonesian women's participation in the digital sector.

This transformation is marked this year by the #UnlockingShe campaign, a new facet of the SheHacks movement that aims to further unlock the potential, access, and opportunities for Indonesian women in the digital ecosystem.

Reski Damayanti, Chief Legal Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, described the programme's evolution. She said, "SheHacks is no longer just a program. It is now a movement—a movement to dismantle the barriers that prevent women from dreaming, creating, and leading. Through SheHacks 2025 and #UnlockingShe, we aim to build a broader and more inclusive space for women to innovate, empower each other, and drive real change."

A key part of SheHacks 2025 is its emphasis on collaboration. This year, Indosat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UN Women, outlining a shared commitment to develop an ecosystem that specifically empowers women. The collaborative effort includes partnerships with the Australia Indonesia Institute and nine other strategic organisations, underscoring the multi-stakeholder approach to women's empowerment in technology.

Over the past five years, SheHacks has generated more than 30,000 technology-based solutions and ideas from women throughout Indonesia. These contributions include examples from rural women operating digital businesses, students creating solutions for persons with disabilities, and various women's collectives striving to create safe digital spaces while challenging prevailing stereotypes.

The #UnlockingShe campaign encourages government agencies, private sector enterprises, communities, and individuals to participate in expanding women's opportunities. The campaign aims to provide greater access to technology and opportunities for leadership in the digital sector.

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison views Shehacks's sustainability and collaborative foundation as central to its success. The company confirmed its dedication to ensuring that women across Indonesia have the means to empower themselves and support each other. Reski Damayanti commented, "SheHacks is a space where women encourage each other, learn together, and grow into change-makers. We believe that Indonesia's digital future can only be realised when everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute, including women."
