HPE's new storage solutions simplify hybrid cloud management

Thu, 16th May 2024

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Aruba announced new data management and storage optimisation offerings for HPE GreenLake platform customers, driving efforts to simplify operations in hybrid cloud environments. The solutions include the introduction of HPE GreenLake Block Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS) - a software-defined storage solution designed to streamline block storage management across hybrid cloud environments.

The latest iteration of HPE GreenLake for Block Storage, built on HPE Alletra MP, now supports NVMe capacity scaling and employs HPE Infosight for greater workload visibility, heightened performance, increased availability, and optimised resource utilisation. Likewise, the HPE Timeless Program aims to revolutionise the storage ownership experience, providing investment protection that enhances operational agility and financial flexibility, ultimately lowering total cost of ownership (TCO). HPE GreenLake for Private Cloud Business Edition has also been expanded to support HPE Alletra MP and HPE SimpliVity Gen 11.

James Eagleton, General Manager for Data Services at HPE, South Pacific, commented on the company's dedication to dynamic IT and storage management. "HPE's latest storage solutions demonstrate our ongoing commitment to leading the charge in IT and storage management by helping enterprises simultaneously simplify and optimise their approach." He praised the pioneering, scalable, cost-effective solutions and their capacity to supply customers with the agility and resilience to succeed in a dynamic digital landscape.

These solutions, along with the existing 4:1 Data Compaction Guarantee and 100% Data Availability Guarantee, equip HPE GreenLake for Block Storage with mission-critical capabilities suitable for any workload in any location. Starting from as low as 15TB, the storage capabilities extend up to 5.6PBs. They are designed to store, manage, and protect data closer to its point of generation, reducing high network bandwidth requirements and lowering cost to serve.

In 2023, HPE introduced the industry's first modular scale-out block storage on a single operating system. Now, HPE enhances its platform-based strategy for hybrid cloud management and optimises data storage. Jim O'Dorisio, senior vice president and general manager of HPE Storage, states: "With our innovations across HPE Alletra and HPE GreenLake, we continue to set the standard for simpler, more cost-effective IT and storage management."

The newly introduced HPE GreenLake Block Storage for AWS simplifies data management and workload placement on the cloud using software-defined storage. The solution allows enterprises to manage and protect global storage environments and move data, workloads, and backups for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

The Timeless Program from HPE enables a seamless storage ownership experience with investment protection and uninterrupted infrastructure lifecycle. The program guarantees data availability and efficiency, promising predictable multi-year economics. Leveraging the kit, customers of block storage on HPE Alletra MP can qualify for a next-gen controller upgrade upon renewing their subscription.

Integrating HPE Infosight and OpsRamp, HPE Alletra MP now offers advanced AI-enabled workload management and analysis. HPE GreenLake for Private Cloud Business Edition now provides a modern disaggregated hyperconverged architecture, while the support of HPE Alletra MP offers data availability and HPE SimpliVity Gen11, built on HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, enables customers to run edge and general-purpose virtual machines (VMs) with a high data availability rate of 99.999%.
