HCLTech wins Ethisphere ethics accolade for third year

Fri, 20th Mar 2026

HCLTech has been named one of the 2026 World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere, marking its third consecutive year on the list.

The recognition places the technology services group among companies assessed by Ethisphere against a framework covering ethics and compliance, governance, culture, environmental and social impact, and employee training and awareness.

According to HCLTech, the assessment required companies to provide more than 240 proof points across those areas. It linked the recognition to its internal focus on integrity and social responsibility in its dealings with employees, clients, partners and communities.

The latest recognition comes as HCLTech continues to operate at significant global scale. It employs more than 226,300 people across 60 countries and reported consolidated revenue of USD $14.5 billion for the 12 months to December 2025.

Founded in India, HCLTech has built a large international technology services business spanning software, engineering, cloud, artificial intelligence and digital services. It works across sectors including financial services, manufacturing, life sciences, healthcare, telecoms, retail, consumer goods, mobility and public services.

Ethisphere, which runs the ranking, focuses on corporate conduct and governance standards. Its annual process examines whether companies have formal ethics structures in place and how those standards are embedded in day-to-day operations.

The recognition comes amid a wider trend of large technology companies seeking external validation for governance and compliance programmes as scrutiny of corporate behaviour increases. In recent years, investors, regulators and customers have paid closer attention to workplace conduct, supply chain practices, environmental performance and board oversight.

For companies with broad international operations, these issues can be particularly complex. Maintaining consistent standards across multiple jurisdictions often requires formal training, internal reporting processes, compliance systems and documented governance controls.

Assessment process

Ethisphere's methodology, as described by HCLTech, requires detailed submissions rather than a simple nomination. The more than 240 proof points cited in the assessment suggest participating companies must document policies and practices across a broad range of operational areas.

The recognition is therefore not based solely on public statements or reputation. Instead, it relies on evidence related to programme design, oversight structures, employee education and broader social and environmental considerations.

Olaf Casperson, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, HCLTech, commented on the recognition.

"It is an honor to once again be named as one of Ethisphere's World's Most Ethical Companies, a further testament to our unwavering adherence to our core values and ensuring that all our people operate with the utmost respect and integrity in everything we do," said Olaf Casperson, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, HCLTech.

Ethisphere also highlighted the role of governance and compliance in long-term corporate performance. The organisation has positioned ethical business conduct not only as a matter of corporate culture but also as a factor in resilience and business stability.

Erica Salmon Byrne, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Chair, Ethisphere, said HCLTech's inclusion came in the 20th class of honourees.

"Congratulations to HCLTech for achieving recognition as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies. As we mark the 20th class of honorees, this group continues to raise the bar for business integrity by embedding ethics into everyday decision-making and long-term strategy. Companies with strong ethics, compliance, and governance programs are built for better long-term performance," said Erica Salmon Byrne, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Chair, Ethisphere.

Business context

The announcement adds to HCLTech's recent efforts to present itself as a company with mature internal controls while competing in a crowded global market for technology outsourcing and consulting work. Large customers in regulated sectors such as banking, healthcare and public services often examine suppliers' governance standards alongside technical and commercial criteria.

Recognition from third-party organisations can therefore play a practical role in procurement discussions, particularly when clients want evidence that suppliers can manage compliance obligations across international delivery networks. This is especially relevant for companies handling sensitive data, regulated processes or critical infrastructure-related work.

HCLTech's size also means its internal standards carry weight across a substantial workforce. With more than 226,000 employees spread across dozens of countries, ethics policies are not simply board-level statements but systems that must be translated into training, reporting and management processes across different legal and cultural environments.

While the company did not provide further operational detail alongside the award, the figures it cited underline the scale at which those systems must function. Revenue of USD $14.5 billion and a presence in 60 countries place it among the larger global technology services groups operating across multiple industries.

For Ethisphere, the continued prominence of technology companies on ethics rankings reflects how corporate conduct has become part of mainstream business evaluation rather than a niche concern. For HCLTech, a third straight appearance provides continuity in an area where consistency is often watched as closely as any single year's result.
