Goqoro to acquire +Style smart home platform in Japan

Wed, 18th Mar 2026

Tokyo-based IoT provider Goqoro has agreed to acquire the +Style smart home platform brand and related assets from BBSS, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group's SB C&S.

The deal shifts ownership of a consumer-facing IoT brand that has built a presence in Japan's smart home market through connected devices and a platform model spanning product planning and service delivery.

Goqoro has signed a definitive agreement with BBSS covering the +Style brand and associated assets. Under the handover timetable, the transfer is set to run through the end of April, with Goqoro scheduled to begin platform service operations in May.

What changes

+Style operates as an IoT platform under the concept "Adding Smartness to Everything". The brand has emphasised involving users from the product-planning stage and has served as a route to market for everyday smart home devices.

Goqoro plans to combine its AI, IoT and robotics work with +Style's service infrastructure. Its ambitions extend beyond device control, with a future product range spanning lighting, sensors and robotics.

Goqoro framed the acquisition as part of a business succession strategy and said it will inherit and further develop +Style's brand values.

Service continuity

Existing +Style users will continue receiving customer support and service operations without interruption after the transition, according to Goqoro. The goal is continuity as operational responsibility shifts to the new owner.

The companies' schedule calls for the asset transfer to be completed by the end of April and for Goqoro to start service operations in May.

Strategic focus

Goqoro describes itself as an IoT solutions provider spanning AI solutions, IoT services, and robotics and automation. Its business lines include hardware development and cloud operations, as well as device planning and mass production through ODM and OEM arrangements.

The company also cites IoT infrastructure work, such as system setup and maintenance, and markets space-saving solutions that use data-driven management to reduce operating and labour costs.

BBSS is wholly owned by SB C&S, which is part of SoftBank Group. The transaction moves +Style out of the SoftBank Group structure and into a specialist supplier focused on smart home and IoT development.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The announcement also did not say how the transfer will affect the +Style device roadmap, commercial arrangements with hardware partners, or the platform's relationships with third-party device makers.

Consumer IoT platforms face pressure from global ecosystems and the continued growth of smartphone-led control layers. In Japan, providers have also faced scrutiny over long-term support for devices and cloud services, given the reliance on software updates and ongoing connectivity.

Goqoro said it plans to integrate AI and robotics into a smart home ecosystem built around the +Style platform, under the broader concept of "Future Living (Mirai-Seikatsu)".
